One of my favorite films. I can see how a guy who is looking to drink himself to death, and who referred to me as a "smug prick" earlier today may not rally around a movie where people live 500 years.

Do any of you know why he called me a smug prick earlier today? Do any of you know why?

The Fountain just... it was the film he'd always wanted to make, the first film he wanted to make, and you can tell it's a labor of love, but you can also tell that it WAS the first movie he wanted to make because he was very young when he came up with the idea.

It's charming, but immature.

One cannot help wonder what the movie would have been if it hadn't been shitcanned halfway through so he had to re-make it with about 1/10th of the original money.

(I made up "1/10th", but it was a lot less.)

I saw Requiem for a Dream tonight (thanks Flack) and when Pinner returns I think we should discuss this film.

I refuse to watch that movie because people say it is depressing. Any form of "entertainment" that make people cry or feel horrible is stupid (just my opinion, man). I watched the same director's movie called Pi though and really like it. However, it was definitely one of those "Only need to see it once" movies.

Just for some context here, you guys are talking about the ass to ass scene? It's been awhile since I saw requiem but I only recall one nude scene and it involved ass to ass. That scene was not meant to be "hot", ass to ass is never "hot".
