The first half is absolutely stellar. The second half is brought down a bit by a needlessly-long, uninspired bit with the guy's ex-wife, but then comes back out on top.

But whatever, let me just tell you this: Adam Sandler is fucking spectacular in this movie. When I tell you he's great, I don't mean "great, for Adam Sandler", I mean, get that man an Oscar nomination. Holy crap.

(gasps) Better than-------that remote control movie?

better than-------Tollbooth Willie?

Actually, He's become better since he settled down in his maturity. Took things slightly more seriously. Still would have made a great Batman villian, tho.

What is it about him that made the movie? Not a huge fan but might be inclined to rent it if the reviews are good.

He doesn't, by himself, make the movie, but his portrayal of a genuinely miserable comedian who's sick, and sick of everything, is endlessly engaging.

Have you liked other Judd Apatow movies? Then you will like this. It's more "mature" and "dramatic" than the others (according to mrqe.com, anyway), but still feels like Apatow. Or maybe every movie with Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill feels like Apatow. Either way.
