Oilman is Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood, also known as the guy who would get his ass handed to him by the Joker.

The Joker fights BATMAN. Not well, but still.
Daniel Plainview beat up a CHILD PRIEST.

I look at it this way, the one overarching feature of Plainview's character is that he only gives a shit about himself. The joker is a crazy mofo but will take a punch in the gut for his crazy ideals. Plainview isn't gonna be satisfied if he's dead but at least the company he left behind destroyed the world. Plainview is going to fight to the death to win. They're both 6'1" though Lewis seems bigger than Ledger does (did) so I'd give the edge to the guy who's colder and more selfish.

I think Nicholson's Joker would kick all of their asses though. He'd probably just use some kind of poison and then destroy some art.

The Nicholson Joker gets props for style but is pretty lame on teh pure evil scale. Sure he tried to gas teh entire city but teh
hit-a- guy-with-glasses gag was lame. I always expected more from him and didn't get it.
