Maybe the economy is not so bad?

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey » Mon Jul 21, 2008 12:53 pm

I just got a call from a recruiter, in Atlanta, who found my resume on Monster. I haven't updated it in well over a year, not since there was a funding scare here at work.

I would honestly not be surprised if, in getting to my last activity date, the guy had called up some people that died in the meantime. "Hello, this is Ignatz Smith of Georgia Recruiting, is the Late Mr. Davids available? No? He's in an urn? Can the urn develop in J2EE? ... Can you put the urn on?"

Does this happen to you other guys? This isn't me saying I AM SO GREAT; my resume is horrible. But I've heard that the entire country is going into the shitter, so I am not sure what's going on here. If the guy, hiring in Atlanta, is looking at Colorado resumes, I assume he's just meticulously going through the ones stamped "Earth" first before diving into the ones from Alderaan.

It could be because pretty much everyone already in this city is stupid as shit, so they have to look elsewhere for any jobs requiring some intellectual candlepower.

Hey, asshole. Don't go slagging my hometown there, or I will have to rip off your head and shit down your bleeding neckstump.

Are you saying that Atlanta is a SMART city? Compared to the rest of the south, maybe...

Waitasec, since when has Atlanta been the hometown of One of the Bruces? St. Louis, Jersey, Canada -- these places I am aware of. You grew up in Atlanta??! Since when?

My favorite bit of Bush's address last week was his utterly insincere reassurance about our economic situation.

"The economy's... good, uh... trade is... up."

The 25% still supporting the guy are amazing. I hope they never die off.
