Haw! How do you like it so far? I was thinking of a smart phone, but then I realized if I just use a PDA and a cellphone it costs like 50 bucks less a month.

Well I am typing this at work, so it is pretty sweet! I lost my phone and washed my iPod, so this is a good replacement for both! The neat Other Stuff has really impressed me; from GPS Google maps and Geotagging showing me where the best nightclubs in Berlin are to the 3G-powered Last.fm client making it an Infinite Ipod (fantastic when plugged into an iPod boom box and set to create a radio-station with the instruction "Artists like Freezepop"). It is a jolly good little machine, though this took 10 minutes to type.

Tell me how the apps work out a few months from now. I really do want to combine my phone and pda, but I'm definitely not going to sacrifice being able to use the thing as a IR remote or AVI splitter if I need to.

When I first went to play this video, the audio was out on my computer. I was frustrated and I flung the computer off the table, slouched in my throne and sulked.

I am going to tell you, Lex, something and I want you to know it is true. I want you to know I am not exaggerating. I want you to know this.

Beaver, the band, had a unfinished song from a few years ago called "Carnival Baby." I have all the music in MIDI form. I had my 4-track out, so I was going to play the song and have the music go from the output jack of the PC to the input jacks of the 4-track.

When I unplugged the wire that was already in there (on the PC) I heard a "pop!" I played the song and it came through very, very, very softly. I had to have the 4-track up completely to hear just a ghost of it.

I flung the 4-track off the table, slouched on the couch and brooded. LIKE THIS GUY:

(Imagine he is also somehow thinking about Mr. Do! and you will have it.)

The next thing I did was check Jolt Country. I reconnected the audio cables back to where they were. Even though there hadn't been many posts on JC lately, I guess I was hoping for content and there WAS content there! Your video!

I hit "play" on the video... but sound was still broken!

This means that trying to play an unfinished Beaver song literally killed the audio capabilities of my computer.

...

... It was fixed after a reboot, and just now I remembered the thread. Hooray! It arrived! This will prove to be one of the most clutch days in text game history, I promise.
