Whats worse than Bozo the Clown dying?

How about having your favorite basketball team removed from existence?

In 1982 I became a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. My dad threw me passes in the back yard, Steve Largent was the best WR in football and played for Seattle, boom I picked a team. In 1984 I settled on a baseball team. Alvin Davis was on a tear for the lowly Mariners, he won the ROY the team sucked but I said might as well stay consistent and like Seattle. Sometime in the late 80's my dad signed me up for rec basketball. I needed to pick a team the Sonics were my natural choice.

Earlier this month, a square headed boot wearing maggot from Oklahoma ruined everything with full compliance from the worst commisioner in the history of sports.

Despite supporting a team for 41 years, winning the only pro sports championship Seattle has ever won, and having great attendance for a lousy team in recent years, the Seattle Sonics are headed out the door. To Oklafuckinghomo City. Oklahoma. Oklahoma a state founded on assholes getting a head start, killing Indians, providing nothing productive ever (besides the birth place of Steve Largent), and being most famous for having a goddamn building blown up ,has a proffesional sports team.

Now OK city tried to steal the Hornets after hurricane katrina but were unsuccesful. So David Stern and Clay Bennett decided to orchastrate a fake attempt by Bennett (an Oklahoma City businessman) to keep the team in seattle when the fuckstick owner of Starbucks nearly bankrupted the Sonics. As outlayed in numerous private Clay Bennett e-mails made public, he made no such attempt to do that, he was proven in court as a liar and David Stern had enough pull erase all of Clays's lies.

and what was the reason for the sonics leaving? The city would not meet Sterns demans to pump hundreds of millions of dollars of tax payer money into a brand new basketball arena. Why? because they just did that 15 years ago, updated the fucking thing 8 years ago and apparently that wasnt good enough for Stern.

So i am done with the NBA, will not be picking another team and hope Bennett and Stern die horrific painful deaths. There was nothing I liked better than catching a Sonics game at 10:30 at night from the comfort of my couch and HD TV. anybody in Oklahoma who supports this mess should die of AIDS. Its one thing when some scatter brain moved a football team from LA to St. Louis as that dumb bitch who owned the Rams did. Is quite another when the Commisioner of the league conspires with some stupid cowboy to hold a city hostage for 500 million dollars to replace a perfectly good arena. SO FUCK THAT SHIT, done.

I just want you to know I feel terrible for you. This is the worst news I have heard in a long time. You loved that team.

The fucking slime dripping off Stern and Bennett is just ... unfathomable. There's some serious lying with passion for you. "We made it!!!" HURRR

Lots of people here in Seattle are REALLY upset about this. To the point of adding another reason to avoid Starbucks.

It's a fucking business. Are you all high?

Seattle sports fans are feeling lied to, that the new owners had acted as if they intended to keep the team here when their plans were to move it from the beginning. There are lots of people here that don't give a shit though because the sonics basically suck anyway.

It's an entertainment business, and if you get your ego wound up in it enough to be distraught about a goddamn team moving, then you have completely lost sight of reality. It's like putting on a big foam #1 finger and rooting for Microsoft or New Line Cinema or some shit.

Wake the hell up.

It isn't, because there is a built-in monopoly, and the teams tie themselves completely to the community. This is a horrible opinion you have here. You should revise it.

No, YOURS is the horrible opinion, because you're approaching this like a whiny little bitch, crying "but... but where's the heart!??!"

There AIN'T no heart. These are BUSINESSMEN, running a BUSINESS, and they'll do whatever they can to maximize profits. It has nothing to do with what team you cheered for as a child, or what random city, which you've never been to, you decide to support the football team of.

Your opinion is naive, idealistic, and unrealistic. And stupid.

It really, really isn't. I mean, history and common sense will prove that.

because you're approaching this like a whiny little bitch, crying "but... but where's the heart!??!"
Haha, where did I say that?

Is David Stern an insufferable ball of shit for gleefully letting his buddy move an NBA team? Yes. Do I hope he dies a very painful death now? Yes. Did he fuck over the city of Seattle for no reason, other than for his own, smug, drunk-with-power ego? Yes. Does it forever tarnish what he "accomplished" as the commish of the sport? Absolutely, in two years he's gone from one of the best to probably the worst.

There AIN'T no heart. These are BUSINESSMEN, running a BUSINESS, and they'll do whatever they can to maximize profits.
This is where you've fucked up.

Moving the Sonics to Brooklyn? Maybe that maximizes profits.
Moving them to London, like how Stern eventually wants to do with a team? Possibly.
But moving them to Oklahoma City? Haha, what? Moving them to a SMALLER market is "maximizing profits"?

So, you're telling me that OKC was the city that best maximized profits. OK. OK, cool. More than Vegas, which doesn't have a team? Kansas City? San Jose, Long Beach, etc.?

This is where your two-second understanding of the situation has DOOMED you, Pinback. Moving the Sonics to OKC was not about maximizing profits. They were moved there because a bunch of buck-toothed shitstains wanted their team to be close to home. That's it. It's not a business decision. If you're going to lambast people who rooted for a basketball team for over 40 years because they have emotional ties, well, you'd better fucking do the same thing for laughably moving a team to Oklahoma, which was done purely for emotional reasons, Mr. Spock.

In fact, moving them there was by far the most juvenile thing in the entire situation. I grew up in Rochester. I wouldn't move a fucking sports team there if I got rich. Do you know why? BECAUSE I AM NOT A TIT-CLUTCHING BABY, that's why.

Anyway, I just destroyed you here, so I expect you to bow out of the thread right now.

Did he fuck over the city of Seattle for no reason
How? By moving a BASKETBALL TEAM? Those poor babies! What name will they now scream "GO ______, FUCK YEAH!!!" about?

Fucked over the city. Right. No, all it fucked over was sports-loving idiots with no lives who called the Sonics "we" in polite conversation.

Anytime you say "we" when referring to a sports team, you are in serious need of a search party to find a life.

Why not "we"? Odds are most fans have more emotional attachment than any of the players or owners.

Are you going to address the fact that I destroyed your argument, which was that moving to OKC was a completely neutral and passionless business decision?

I don't care why the decision was made, it's their business, they can do whatever the hell they want with it.

Of COURSE the fans have more emotional attachment. That's my point. These people are maniacs! You get your ego all emotionally wrapped up in a MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS ORGANIZATION and THEY'RE the crazy people?

Your team isn't WE, your team isn't even yours. It's a traveling road show, built to take your money, and nothing else. Get real, man.

So, if you don't care what they do with it, and it's obvious that it made no sense to move to a smaller city, why does the owner, Clay Bennett, get to be an overly-emotional old fag hag who can't oooOOoo BEAR TO BE AWAY FROM HOME (/sucks thumb) (/cries for milky teat) over a basketball team he never gave a shit about, but actual fans can't?

Is it OK to root for college teams? What if you didn't go to school there? (Actually, that one always kills me, I will never, ever understand rooting for a college football or basketball team when you didn't attend said college. But whatever.)

Please, elucidate us all onto how these things should work. By the way, billions of people disagree with you.

It's okay to root for them, sure. And if you spent more than five seconds on disappointment if they ever quit or left, then that's a clue that YOU HAVE WASTED YOUR LIFE.

Billions of people disagreed with Hitler, too.
