Rockies - Padres "playoff" non playoff game

The Rockies and Padres are fighting for their playoff lives! 162 games were not enough, so the 163rd game of the season was created to solve this issue.
...
It's exciting! Someone explain to me why we can't have this every year. Take two teams and have them play a real, live PLAYOFF GAME for the right to be the Wild Card representative.
Pros:
- It's exciting.
- It has the wild card team drain themselves of a good pitcher in a must-win (obviously) game. This is good because the wild card team has been winning plenty of championships lately. Having them burn a pitcher for the right to go farther helps teams that won the division. Right now there's little advantage to winning the division.
- It would allow baseball to be meaningful again in Toronto, Baltimore and Tampa Bay
Cons:
NONE, unless Tampa Bay gets in and allows Elijiah Dukes to play. HONK HONK
No, seriously, what are the cons?
