Bad news, Robb and Dayna

I work Sundays this year, so I will be unable to call you drunk during halftime to complain about the Buccaneers and girls and whatever.

Do you guys watch college football? I will be drunk and watching college football each Saturday, even though I don't care about it.

You can still call even though there isn't a lot of college football over here. Syracuse sucking... and I still have no idea why they started to suck and why it has continued for years... has completely killed my interest in the sport.

I mean, you can't blame the weather because they were good for years in that weather.

Mike Vick said he went to Virginia Tech because he did not want to follow in Donovan McNabb's footsteps, which is contrary to everything everyone else has ever heard about college athletes ("Play for us in Miami, follow the tradition!").

Also because he got in-state tuition there.

I'm running into a problem: while I like college football, I just don't give enough of a shit to call. I still get drunk, but I lack the passion that comes with seeing the Bucs run for two yards on third and seven.

Part of it comes from my alma mater having sucked since about the time I graduated, but even watching more successful teams with family links (Colorado, Michigan State) doesn't flip the "call Robb and Dayna and then shriek" switch. I'm afraid that will have to wait until I get a Sunday off, or I just get randomly drunk some other night (which is entirely possible).

Greg, have you considered the possibility of watching the games at work and getting drunk (and calling) from there? I'm in if you're in!

they sucked the last two years because theie coach wanted to run the west coast offense with an option qb and line.

Picture Kordell Stewart trying to run the 85 49ers. Or conversely Dan Marino running the option for Nebraska. Neither would be pretty. Now all those option guys are gone, but the terrible record of late has hurt recruiting. Its tougher for Syracuse to get back because the town is a hard sell.

Do you think the new guy, Robinson (IIRC) is going to turn it around?

It makes me sad to think that I'm at a level of respectability where I can't conceivably do that. all that's left is calling out sick every Sunday between now and January (in a rare burst of foresight, I've got vacation off for the Super Bowl, traditionally the least interesting game of the year).

I'm pretty severely damaged at the moment, also sad because it's 9:54pm my time, and this was largely solo drinking as well. Most of my friends, for whatever reason, can't get behind college football. I did get to see the nerds of Georgia get horribly upset about the Bulldogs losing to former Buc Steve Spurrier and South Carolina, the only joy in my otherwise tortured life.

I accidentally quoted my brother's post and did not add my own reply. Whoops!
