I love how every time there's an article about crypto linked from Slashdot, every tinfoil hat paranoid boob starts posting about how secure their data is.

"I only use encrypted data partitions."

"Oh, you fool, you should be encrypting swap as well."

"I run everything from a VM on an encrypted partition."

"I encase my entire computer in Quikcrete, and then paint a nude picture of Whoopi Goldberg on it to keep people at bay."

I wonder how many nerd-hours are being wasted on utterly pointless protection of poorly scanned Playboy back issues.

I enjoy the guy whose brainwave is to make a text adventure of whatever story is going on. Not that text game transcript guy - he's fucking scum - but, for instance, a lawyer named Jack Thompson pretended that he was going to give ten grand to someone if they made a game that did certain horrible things. Some obligatory Slashdot Wag shouts out, "HEH I should totally just make a text adventure tonight that does all the things he requests and pocket that money!" No you won't you stupid bastard, in a night you won't even figure out how to make the sword glow.

(Of course, once you figure out how to do that you pretty much become an expert in like three text game video languages, as it's all the same stuff with different syntax. Like all languages? Oh good, very good, how about like li -- like life??? Yes. Yes, indeed.)
