Sports Radio Talk Show Hosts

Have you noticed a trend in the last (x) years in which on sports talk radio, more and more, the male announcers voices have gotten LOUDER, and also SQUEAKY and HIGH? Like it sounds like a bunch of 12 year olds screaming into the microphone? "WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT, HUH? (squeak squeak) RASHEED WALLACE COMPLAINING ABOUT HIS TEAMMATES' BEHAVIOR?! (squeak) IS THAT CRAZY? CALL ME UP AT 1-800-SPORTS-DOUCHE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!! (squeak squeak squeak)."
Sports talk radio bites it. Here are the only good shows:
1. Tony Kornheiser.
2. Dan Patrick, except he snorts when he laughs.
3. Jim Rome, when he is not sucking up to guests, and not repeating himself four times in between long sequences of dead air.
That's it. Everyone else is a high squeaky screamer.

I thought he got canned. Didn't he also play songs from the 50s during his show? That's why they should have canned him.

Losing Rob Dibble was the best move they could have made. However! He needs someone else in the booth there and not just the one sped who's currently there. I nominate my brother. Do you need a college degree to work for ESPN Radio?

They used to play Rome's show twice a day in Colorado. Now, even though I spend approximately 119% of my waking hours in traffic, he's never on while I'm in my car.
When the new one shows up I am thinking about getting XM or Sirius radio. I'd rather yell at the Blue Jays than the asshole in front of me who didn't signal -- after all, yelling at the Blue Jays is more likely to have an effect (HEH!).
But I refuse to pay for the equipment AND a monthly fee. So it looks like I'm back to the same 12 Yes CDs for the rest of my days.
Fuck you, Pinner, you won't even ever read this.

No, he quit the ESPN show. Now he does it locally up here in DC.

Yes, and he continues to do so. They didn't CAN him. He QUIT.

I was away when this change happened. Why did it happen?

Oh, I read it. I just didn't pay attention to it.

Sports talk is nothing more then glorified gossip. As much as I like football - I can't stand to sit there and listen to a bunch of loudmouths with southern drawls play Monday morning quarterback.

Okay, way to contribute to the conversation. Next, why don't you head over to the cooking base and end every thread with "food? blechh, hate it."

I enjoy Jim Rome. So much so, in fact, that I paid for the Streamlink. (My office is in a concrete building and gets dick-all for radio reception; Plus, I like listening at my convenience.) Overall, I think he puts together a very tight show with the best interviews in sports radio, plus good perspectives and more than just rumors and hindsight.
However, he tends to perseverate (WORD OF THE DAY) on topics a bit much, and I can't stand the 30,000 emails per day from listeners utilizing the same 2 comic mechanisms.
1.) Dear Rome,
Ironic response.

Ironic Figure
or
2.) Dear Rome,
That last bit was so funny, I just spit [diet coke, pepsi, blood, baby batter, mung] all over my [keyboard, monitor, self].
Signed,
Goober in Palookaville.

I would like to do something like that, but I am not sure if that counts against "Internet useage" where I work. I have a lot of music to listen to, but radio rock's ability to produce eight hours of it per day for my needs is going to mean it's in perpetual catch-up.

I'm not sure I understood a word of that, RobBb.

Why did he quit? Because they wouldn't let him play "Two Boards for Every Girl" or tracks off Pet Sounds like he wanted?

He said he'd run naked through Times Square if Ichiro won the batting title his rookie year. Since he reneged on that bet, ESPN shitcanned him. He's out sucking cock for fives in the back bars with Brett Haber.

What, did you get the retard flu that's been going around this place? Break it down for me fellas:
1) I'd like to have Rome Streamlinked across my PC at work as well.
2) But throwing that much data that quickly into my work PC will probably send up some flags
3) The main reason I'd like to listen to his show is because I have a finite amount of music collected as MP3s... and an infinite amount of working days.
4)...
... Actually, thinking of my time working as essentially infinite makes this post too depressing to continue. And unlike Pinner, Nessman and Knuckles I actually enjoy my job. Jesus.

Rome talks for exactly eleven minutes every half hour. the other minutes are commercials and "Hey Clones, are you having trouble getting it up?" type ads. Figure a three hour show and that's not worth getting sattelite radio. The content to ad ratio is way, way too low. I think it's almost as bad as Wease (that is, as bad as it was when he was on) Anyway, now that Don and Mike are being internet streamed I will have to get an mp3 player and listen when I want now.
