This thread will be updated each and every day that the Washington Nationals are in first place. I hope it will become completely insufferable and cause at least one real-life fist fight.

Well, the players agreed to a salary cap. That's a good thing for me, the fan. I can't stand uncapped sports.

The draft is shaping up nicely to drop the new phenom (Sidney something) into New York. They are weighing teams who haven't made the playoffs recently. Whatever. God forbid the kid go to Columbus or Edmonton or something.

(I guess Edmonton's not a good example because they have made the playoff recently. But anyway. I just hope the draft isn't fixed.)

What happened with the minors? Last I knew the Amerks were kicking ass and there was the possibility of recieving the stanley cup... because Lord Stanley awarded the cup to the best hockey team, period..

Yeah, some girls' league was trying to get the Cup awarded to their playoff winner as well. A party-line man like Lord Stanley definitely would have loved for a bunch of scrubs or even more damningly, girls to get their filthy hands on his trophy. Not a chance IN HELL. I thought I heard Rochester got bounced. Wasn't it Philly versus someone? Haha, if they did hand over the real hardware and the Philadelphia Phantoms got their names on it before Clarke's Flyers did that would be... well.. er... OK, not "funny," but...

Well, I don't know what it'd be.

I don't follow the Amerks at all, but I did notice on the D&C website some time back that the Amerks got bounced out of the playoffs. Got swept 4-0 or something like that in the Eastern Conference Finals (???).

Not only are the Nats still in first, but they are now DOMINATING the NL East, and are (still) the hottest team in baseball!

GO NATS! None of whom I actually know who they are, and haven't yet seen a game of theirs!

Blue Jays 9, Nats 5, eat my cock.

Seriously, though, this is getting ridiculous.

The Nats were something like 2-1 to open the season (or something) when all the sports writers declared, "enjoy it while it lasts, they're still finishing cellar."

Then they were 15-11 or something, and the sportswriters declared, "Yeah, beginner's luck, they're still cellar by the all-star break."

Now they're four clear of the ENTIRE REST OF THE NL EAST. I don't profess to know anything about baseball that Craig Biggio's armguard is heading to Canton and Joe Torre makes bad TV commercials, but, I mean, isn't this something?

This is kinda something, isn't it? Against the powerhouse Atlantas and the powerhouse Floridass and the decenthouse Philadelphias and the suckhouse Mets?

I mean.

They're fucking clueless. EVERY time the Expos have ever been counted out they've bounced back. The only way to stop them was to:

1) Cancel the goddamn season in 94. Baseball didn't want three straight Canadian teams winning it all so they cancelled the season

2) Move the goddamn team

Oh, and the fans FILLED THAT PLACE in Montreal after they acquired Colon and Floyd. Man, fuck baseball.

I hope they win it all and give Montreal their fucking team back.

Oh, and the other thing -- Baltimore has been in first place as well. All season long it's been people saying "IT'S EARLY!!!" They just went on their first losing streak. IMMEDIATELY it became "IT'S TOO LATE!" The same thing will happen with the Nats. There's nothing but a bunch of stupid rednecks who can't figure out what a cover-2 is following baseball. If they weren't made up of a thousand dumb fuckers and Peter Gammons they'd be covering a better sport.

The Nats are now 5.5 games clear of the rest of the division, CRUSHING their so-called "rivals"!!!!!

The funny part is, I'm here in Washington? The place that screamed for a team for 35-some-odd years? And now they've got a first-place team which nobody expected?

And nooooooobody cares. None. Zero.

Which is probably the reason the Washington Senators left town to begin with. How quickly people forget.

How would you know? You never leave your house, and never speak to anyone unless they bag your wine the improper way.
