He composed movie/TV scores, the most notable of which was the theme to Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which then of course became the theme to Star Trek: The Next Generation.

And now, he is dead.

I don't think he'd appreciate you being all smug about it like that. What did he ever do to you?

"And now, he is dead." What an asshole.

I used to say he was my favorite movie composer, back when I had even less of a life (and therefore had a favorite movie composer). The "Total Recall" and "The Medicine Man" (even though the movie itself is pretty lame) soundtracks were two of my favorites from that guy.

... et, tu, Roody?

Frankly, I'm outraged that the two of you would be so crass to the man regarding his death. "I used to say he was my favorite"... man... you guys are HARSH.

I hope when *I* go you all are a little nicer and more respectful about it.

No offense to the Jer Bear, but it's not like he was John Williams or anything. It's sad to see anybody with obvious talent die, but his passing is pretty much on-par with the passing of Spiro Agnew.....people say "oh, that's sad", then immediately get back to their lives.

Nah, I think Jerry Goldsmith was much better than John Williams. John Williams has a couple great themes, but even they are usually ripped off of some classical piece.
