I would love nothing more than to create some kind of social media account to share a a song of the day. However, I am much too lazy to do it, so this thread will serve as that outlet.
Today's Entry: Patrick Rondat - Escape From Shadows
The one thing I miss about Spotify is music discovery. Apple Music doesn't do NEARLY as good a job. But AM really nailed it with this one for me last week.
Patrick Rondat is a 64 year old guitarist from France. He was pretty active from the late 80s thru late 00s, but until now, hasn't put out a new album since 2009. Escape From Shadows is his first release in 16 years. He's been active with side projects and playing live, but no new material in a long time.
At first, I thought he was going to be "just another solo guitarist". Which in itself, isn't a bad thing. I have a lot of that kind of music in my library. But as the song went on, I realized just how fantastic it is. I've discovered that I'm much more of a progressive rock fan than I realized I was, and this track has a ton of progressive vibes. The rest of Escape From Shadows is just as good, but I decided to go with the track that first grabbed my attention. Enjoy.

Re: Da King's Song Of The Day
One day, Spotify recommended a song by a band called The Fell. I'd never heard of them before, but took a listen and really dug the song. After researching the band a bit more, I found that they only ever released 2 singles between 2017 and 2019 and was surprised to see Billy Sheehan on bass.
I've always been a fan of Billy. He got his start with Western NY band Talas, hit it big playing for David Lee Roth, and went on to lead Mr Big. Most recently, he's played with The Winery Dogs (one of my favorite bands) and Sons of Apollo. I'll listen to anything he plays on.

I did like the first song, got some Dream Theater vibes from them.
A lot of bands I like are due to you introducing me to them.

You are 100% correct there! I thought the same thing, but didnt want to say it and influence perspectives. I think thats why I enjoyed it so much.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:13 pm I did like the first song, got some Dream Theater vibes from them.

Speaking of the Winery Dogs... I dont even remember how I first heard of them, but this was their first single, and I was in love with it from the first time I heard it. They are your standard issue supergroup... Mike Portnoy on drums (while on hiatus from Dream Theater), Billy Sheehan on bass, and RIchie Kotzen (Poison, Mr Big, and a large solo library) on vocals. Unfortunately they disbanded after 3 albums when Portnoy rejoined Dream Theater.
