I Hate Ableton (2023-2024)

Worst UI in human history. I had already solved my issue on one of my tracks where the volume went up at 11 seconds. Well, I tried to work on the song again. The problem, of course, was back.
Ableton does not save all your changes. It has to do that to be a serious DAW.
Because I can't find the fucking thing, you have to right click HERE to disable the volume automation:
I will now do that, save my song and see if it comes back.

WAIT. That's not where it is. What the fuck. I hate Ableton so much.
So in the master volume area. I will definitely be using what Nikos recommended for the rest of the songs I hope to eventually do. I have put off making music for much of the year because of Ableton.

It is time to just learn this thing.

Delete it now. I can send you an intuitive daw for the price of nothing. You can be happy again

Wait, what is the intuitive daw? I don't mind paying money.

Mixcraft. I believe they are up to 9.something now. Download it from their website snd try it free for a week. Im stull using 6.0 because the rest is all bells and whistles, engineers justifying their jobs.
Edit: version 10.0 is out. That's nice.

Or even longer. I just had an interesting thought. Consider the following: someone downloads a copy of Windows from Microsoft's website, then installs it in a virtual machine under QEMU or Virtualbox (or uses a pre-built virtual image), installs the Mixcraft software, without starting it, shuts down the virtual machine, creating a frozen image of that virtual environment, makes a copy of the image with the additional software, then spins it back up, and runs the software for the first time, now beginning the 7 day free trial. All work is saved regularly to external disk: a real device like an SD card and reader, Jump Drive, or portable hard drive. On the 7th day, save all work, shut down and erase that virtual machine, copy the original virtual machine image, spin it up, then go right back and start Mixcraft for the first time, beginning a new and different 7 day trial, load your files from external storage, then lather, rinse, repeat.

I recorded a progression of three chords tonight. D, G and then A. It took a half hour, but I got it.

Tryin' to get the simplest keyboard possible, the Keystation Mini32, workin' in ole Ableton!
Absolutely DOES NOT FUCKING WORK, of course!

Okay, I can't even describe how shitty Ableton is. It is stopping me from making music because of how shitty it is.
Downloading Mixcraft. My bandmate has a Mac, so I am sure I will waste everyone's time with this, or it will cost me $200 to register a copy. But there is no fucking way Ableton is as good as it gets. It does not act in a consistent manner from MINUTE TO MINUTE.

Ok, through no roughness of my own, the USB connector on the KeyStation Mini32 broke off. I'd need to get a screwdriver out to fix it. Probably going straight in the trash. Ohhhh boy. All I want to do is make music like I did on the Tascam03 cassette recorder I had 30 years ago.

I installed Mixcraft and I'll make a solo tune with it.

When you buy things from Amazon you gotta scroll all the way over, sometimes it cuts off the whole title.
The whole title is "KeyStation Mini32(out of 100)

I can hear the Korg synth in Ableton but OF COURSE it won't record it. Why would it record it? Why would it do the one fucking thing it is supposed to do?

Dude legit I bet my sister can help you trouble-shoot some of this. She works with much the same "gear" as the hipsters say.

I appreciate that. I think honestly right now, nothing sees the Korg EXCEPT for one particular saved session I have in Ableton. I can't replicate whatever that one session is doing. The simple Midi tester program I have doesn't see anything. I should just start documenting what I have and how I have it setup.
I did uninstall and reinstall the Korg drivers last night. Had a great Windows crash in restarting that only Windows can do that I took a video of.

Q: what Korg are you using and do you want a bunch of VST Korg synths?
