What's your favorite knot?

Post by Casual Observer »

What's your favorite knot? I'm sure there's at least one other person here with a favorite knot. Mine's the Bowline knot. You know the saying: "Up through the rabbit hole, round the big tree; down through the rabbit hole and off goes he.". It's completely strong but you can usually untie it. I use it to start all ropes and strings that need to hang in something or start around something.

Runner up is the Square. As it's the best way to join two strings, ropes, or wires why not?

Best thing is they're simple (just learned that the bowline starts the same as a hangman's noose)

In BSA I learned all of them but I'd have to look up how to do the rest.

When you need my help because I'm ruining everything, don't look at me.

Whatever knot you want to name, I've got one that beats it. The Gordian Knot. A presumably insoluble knot, said that whoever could untie it would rule all Asia. Alexander the Great looked at it, pulled his sword, cut through the knot, and, ended up becoming ruler of all asia.

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer."

Haha I like Don Knotts a lot more than Slipknot but both were great answers!

Mine is "Fisherman's knot". I'd be totally embarrassed if an old salty dude looked over at my bait and saw some janky knot!
