He almost looks exactly as I remember him in that picture of him by the table. I know this was a hard post to write, but I am glad you did. Your dad was an excellent man that lived life the way he wanted to I gather. Also, he had those who loved him by his side as he dozed off for one last time.

Family member death is a strange/sad/happy experience. I had not really thought about it much lately while trying to stay busy until I caught "Ghost Squad" (A modern Japanese horror/comedy) on the Roku Channel the other night.

That was one of the best tributes I have ever read. We can only hope to live our lives in such a manner that our kids will look up to us in the same way.

Wonderful post, Robb. Every time you write about your dad he seems like a cooler and even more decent dude. This reminds me that I really should write down some of my own Dad Tales before I forget them.

Robb, may I suggest you listen to Mike and the Mechanics' The Living Years and see if it resonates with you.

Given the general rise in expenses and fall in the typical standard of living, the future ain't what it used to be.

To quote people who try to justify the Bible's explic1t condoning and approving of slavery, only to refer to when your father was born, "But it was a different time back then, and they had different values."
