I want to file a complaint, this is called the "Movies and Sex" forum but there is no sex!

Maybe cool it on the porn until you've been back at least 90 minutes.

That isn't porn, silly, it's a picture of breasts. But, I am mindful that people read this at work, and they might not feel the same, so I would take it down... if I could edit or delete it.

"They" being "employers". Is there any way for me to edit my posts?

Editing/deleting posts is this whole thing with a backstory which is basically an in-joke. I think there is something I can do to put you into the "Edit Posts" group, I'll try to do that before the weekend.

Yes, it's been an issue since the last time I was here. I don't know why it's an issue, I've run PhPBB boards myself and never had a problem with it, but whatever. I know managing a group of forums is a super time-sucker. There does seem to be a usergroup called "edit". I applied to be a member which apparently sent you some kind of request. I'll be interested to see what happens if you approve it.

Wasn't the reason you disabled editing was because of a pretty serious incident?

I will also add that I grow weary when people conflate the concepts of "nudity" and "pornography". They are two very different things, but thanks to the puritan prudishness in our country, people seem tio think that seeing a naked breast or penis is absolutely mortifying and also proof that anyone who willingly gazes on such things is a drooling sicko who exposes themselves to people on the street instead of just a normal healthy person. "It's PORN!!!!" they scream whenever a normal piece of anatomy appears, even when not engaged in any particular conduct and is just... visible. I'm not saying Ben reacted quite that way, but he did use the word "porn" very incorrectly.

When people ask me what's so bad about religion and why it makes me so mad, their oppression of and attempts to control sex in all its various expressions is one of the larger reasons.

As usual, Saint Stephenson had the right of it when he described the Ejaculation Control Conspiracy.

What's unclear about the whole thing is whether "edit" means "edit just my own posts" or "can edit ANY message on the board."

Edit means "just my posts." Why would a Sysop give their user's Super Admin?

I agree. I went with my girlfriend to an outdoor nudist joint years ago. Guess what? No one was humpin anybody.

Are you sure about that? With PhPBB specifically? You may be right, but the answer to your question is "lots of possible reasons", which is why most BB systems have the option to make editing more granular than only "the admin can edit and no one else" and "anyone with edit privilege can edit anything." Sometimes admin duties are shared, for one. But more often, sysops can assign individuals to be moderators of certain forums but not others, which means they can edit posts in Forum A but not Forum B. There are a whole slew of possible combinations of user permissions.

Either every, or almost every forun had three people as moderators: Jonsey, Aardvark, and Pinback. Then, I guess because Pinback stopped drinking Jonsey took that away from him. Pinback isn't even given Moderation privileges over The Don Rogers Show Forum!
