I appreciate movie plots I can explain in ten seconds or less. In 1917, two soldiers are handed a letter by their commanding officer and told to deliver it 9 miles away to another group of soldiers, otherwise 1,600 people will die.

Great movie about bravery and courage and duty and honor... and how World War I (and most wars) were mostly fought by young men with their whole lives ahead of them.

How is the gore and stuff compared to say Saving Private Ryan?

I believe IMDB said there were four on-screen deaths in 1917, although many more are implied in background explosions and stuff like that.
