You can now select an avatar. There are two ways.

1) If you have a Wordpress account, you can upload an avatar there and link to it.
2) You can pick from the AVATAR PACKS. Right now it's just NFL teams but I uploaded a bunch more and I am waiting for the phpBB3 cron job to pick them up.

Avatars are working great! We had four people choose avatars, and the most "this BBS is a shithole thing" that could ever happen to this shithole of BBS happened, somebody picked one that someone already had. I could not be prouder, nor more disgusted, with the puerile state this complete drain on my resources is in.

I have added more and will continue to add more going forward. Thanks! Or add the site to your HOSTS file. Either way.

OK, a bunch are up. Tomorrow at some point we should also have the first few from Cyberganked if anyone wants a Cyberganked avatar.

Will we be able to put up our own avatar art? If so, how is it done?

Cause I can draw up something way better then some of the pre-selected stuff

I shall tell you what I know. I would also like to make an aside. Last night I got the first good night's sleep in about two weeks. While the whole "HOSTS this site" thing was meant to be a bit, there was an element of truth there that is now lacking after proper rest. So don't HOSTS the site, please.

Here is the deal on "Gravatar." If you register with an account on Wordpress.com you'll get the ability to upload a photo for your avatar. phpBB3 works together with that. Why it is called "Gravatar" I cannot tell you. But you register on Wordpress.com, you upload a profile photo and then on this BBS, you just pick the Gravatar option and put in the email you used to register for an account on Wordpress.com.

The reason user uploads don't work directly here is because phpBB3 wants to throw them in a temporary upload folder that either does not exist or does not have the right permissions. To be honest, I think it's better for me to not have to worry about what the Russians would try to upload to this server.

Yes, please - just send a zip file of images to my email account and I shall upload them as the AARDVARK PACK!

Also, I was not being serious when I saw the duplicated avatar. All y'all pick what you like. I'm better now. Let's all enjoy a nice weekend together.

Cron job hit the directory and the first five Cyberganked ones are up. They may be very special to certain members here, but do not feel obligated to use them. Though Tdarcos should know that it will delight us all if he picks his.
