Came home from work at noon on a personal errand and both the left side and right side neighbors took turns grass cutting. They both cut their lawns two days ago and now they are back at it. Two and three times a week...man, get a hobby.

There is no way it feels that good to have it cut that often.

I dont think that mowing 2x a week this time a year is unnecessary. With all the rain we've gotten, my grass has gotten completely out of control. 2-3 days? Maybe a bit much. But I'm at 4-5 days right now myself.

Of course, I oddly enjoy mowing my lawn, so there's that.

While we're on the subject of lawn etiquette....

My neighbor put in a fence a few years ago. They did a shit job. Pretty sure the posts are just untreated lumber shoved in the ground. Unsurprisingly, the wood rotted, and this is what I'm looking at now.



I have not seen my neighbors in months. I would not be surprised if they are either in Florida (they're old) or Russia (they're Russian) for an extended trip. Their son (the one who put up the fence) comes by to mow their lawn. He has mowed their lawn 2-3x since the fence ended up in this situation.

How long do I go before talking to the son and asking when he's going to fix this monstrosity? I have my opinion. I want yours.

Eh, it's mostly fine. Unless pieces of it started flying into my yard that I would hit with a lawnmower, I wouldn't care. That grey shade of wood is much like most of the wood in my deck area at the coast. Elements are harsh enough out there to where it doesn't give a shit if you use high-grade treated lumber! Maybe offer him a "temp fix" suggestion? Like putting a few new posts deep in the ground with some quik-crete and screwing that shit into them.

My grass getting about high as hell in my back yard but I've either been working at night, asleep, or like now it's pouring down rain.

Our mower comes every two weeks. One time he suggested we move to once a week. I told him he can mow every day if he wants to, but I'm only paying him once every two weeks. He continues to come once every two weeks.

Two weeks ago when we were having problems with our pool, my wife hooked up a pump and pumped out 1/3 of the pool's water into our backyard. This was the day before the mowers come. When the mowers came they said they couldn't mow because the backyard looks like a lake. I was overjoyed because I saved $75.

My wife is losing her mind because the grass is getting tall now. She texts the mowers every couple of days asking when they are coming back. I tell her they are coming back in two weeks because they mow from 8am-6pm six days a week and they can't just skip someone else's lawn to come do ours out of cycle. It screws up their entire schedule. My wife texted them on Mother's Day.

All I can think about is how happy I am to have saved $75. I wish they only came once a month. I don't care about keeping my neighbors or anyone else happy. I only care about mowing enough that the HOA doesn't contact me.

We looked at a house once that was on five acres. The immediate area around the house was mowed and everything else looked like a jungle. I remember standing there with my hands on my hips and giving the overgrowth an approving nod. "This guy gets it," I thought.

I like cutting the lawn but not to the point where I spend more than two hours a week doing it. When I lived in the city it was maybe an hour with a push mower. With the rider I have to double cut the back yard to get it even ( up/down then side to side) so that it takes me about ninety minutes in the spring when the grass is in aggressive growing mode

Gid fir bud they realized how awful a mower sounds a d maybe people don't need to hear it 3 times a week.

Tell that guy JC thinks he's a pig!

FENCE UPDATE:
Their son came by today and ripped down the 4 or 5 panels that blew down.

He did not put anything in their place.

I'm now staring at about a 30-40ft gap in their fence. The anarchy in their backyard is driving me insane. I need a daytime picture to share what is actually happening.

I have this on both sides of me, and their days never line up.

This needs to not be glossed over. Two guys on either side of you and Aardvark, mowing 3 times a week and they won't overlap. I feel this should be a "NextDoor" topic.
