It is nice to see old man Rogers open the wallet. I can't believe we were in the running for Meche. Good grief.
If Gil goes out and throws 200 innings of 3.30 ERA ball I can not WAIT to see every baseball blogger admit he was completely fucking wrong. It would be the best thing to happen in baseball since a sabremetric team winning a World Series because they were able to steal a base. I exempt myself from all of this because I'm calling it now and because I have low character.

Pitchers and catchers report... The four most beautiful words one can speak in February.
It's FUCKING RIDICULOUS. It sickens me. He just gave up a three run bomb in the 10th to Lurd's team 10 minutes ago. Don't get me wrong: I credit the other team, Lurd is a good player - all that jazz. But this game, this "Diamond Mind" needs to give me a fucking break. This is unbelievably shitty.
This is the 2005 version of B.J. Ryan, by the by. I think he was better last year, but fuck, lefties are slugging about .950 off him. Fuck Diamond Mind baseball. NONE of my guys are outperforming their 2005 versions and most are horrifyingly worse. The game itself is actually fun, but man am I sick of being the elixir for the rest of the league.

Are they still going with the one with a Jay's face for road games? If they dumped that hat I'll be slightly pissed. More than a stubbed toe and less than leaving keys in a car, but pissed nonetheless. I mean, because I bought that version and all and it really is the nicest hat in baseball.

Looks like the "T" is just a BP hat for now.
So, RobbBb, any predictions for the upcoming season?

Assuming no crippling injuries...
Assuming Boston doesn't make a last-ditch attempt to trade Ramirez...
1. Toronto
2. Boston
3. NY
4. Tampa Bay
5. Baltimore
If Boston and Toronto flipped, I wouldn't be surprised.
I just don't see how the Yankees are going to win the division for the billionth time. Nobody on that team scares me. As for the rest of the AL, I'll go California and the White Sox as the other two playoff teams.

You are SO charmingly old school, Bobb... Do you also refer to Metallica's bass player as "Cliff"?
Anyway, I like how you put Baltimore in the fucking basement (where they belong). As much as I really shouldn't, because I have a strong moral objection to any MLB franchise existing in Florida, I really hope the Devil Rays start making some progress soon... They really do have more talent than their success level indicates.
As far as the three teams that matter... I'm going to be more conservative and not pick the Jays to win the division this year... If the stars align properly, though, I think they have a real shot at the wild card.
RE: The Yanquis, you're right, they shouldn't do well, and really shouldn't have done well any of the last 3 seasons. But goddammit, they have a way of starting the season 15-25 and still find their way into first place before Labor Day despite A-Rod forgetting how to throw, Matsui and Damon forgetting how to throw like men, a pitching staff with an average age of 53 and Derek Jeter's proclivity for bestiality.
So, Yanks/Jays or Sawx/Jays with the Jays keeping it interesting and genuinely vying for the wild card. MAHK MY WORDS.

well, J.P. signed the best pitcher on Brazil's national team. You can't fault the guy for looking everywhere for pitching talent this year.

Well, the Jays beat the Sox twice in "split squad" games, which means exactly nothing, but still. I guess every further exposure our hitters have to their pitchers is a plus.

Spring training breaks today! RobBbuhbuh, shall we create a new "2007 Blue Jays Regular Season" thread? Hopefully to then be followed by a "2007 Blue Jays Postseason" thread?
There's some new Jays adverts up on YouTube. Dammit, there's just something so sublime about violence directed at children:

I have been trying to find a clip of that for years! I was under the impression that MLB was having it pulled.
