Ralph Kiner passed away. He was 91. He is a hall of fame baseball player. He led the league in home runs seven straight years.
I knew of him long after his playing games. One of my earliest memories is traveling to my grandparent's house in Portville, NY. Both of my parents were from Portville. They met in high school and moved to Rochester later.
Ralph Kiner was a baseball announcer for the Mets. And after the games, there would be this ... segment? Show? called "Kiner's Korner." The intentional misspelling was goofy to a little kid. I couldn't tell you anything about the show, other than it had what appeared to be an older man (Ralph would have been in his 60s) interviewing a baseball player. I don't know why we got this show in Portville and not in Rochester. Maybe we did and maybe I only remember it during trips to see my grandparents.
It was a really quiet time. The 80s hadn't "really" started yet. Sometimes I think I would do anything to go back.

She was never in the Little Rascals movies but she was a huge vaudeville draw by age seven. This was back in the early Thirties. She went on to make a few movies and then got into politics I think. I never paid much attention. I suppose Google will answer all my questions if I ask.

She made most of her money as a soft drink mogul, after combining ginger ale with grenadine, providing a viable alternative for recovering alcoholics.

This is the only Shirley Temple video you ever need to watch. For what it's worth, I remember watching this when it aired. I have all the episodes of Mad Movies on VHS. Worth 20 minutes of your life.

I loved Mad Movies! As a confirmed MiSTy, I found the MM treatments wonderful! Makes me wonder why they didn't last. Couldn't be the serious 80s vibe.

I thought this guy was just a bit actor in several of the films I like but it turns out that he actually wrote some of the great comedies out there like Animal House and Caddyshack. RIP Harold Ramos
