Not that I won't miss you, pinback, but if that's what you have to do then we can't argue with it.

Maybe it's Legionnaire's Disease I picked up from being in a room with a poorly-ventilated air conditioning all day, but I think Roody is telling Ben that he's got a drinking problem in this post.
Nah, alcohol is no demon. It's the SELF-LOATHING and the FEAR and the UNCERTAINTY that are the demons.
Alcohol is merely a tool, like screwdriver, or a rusty nail, or a Colt .45.

On this note does anyone know who did all the anti-alcohol art back back in the day? It was stuff like a skeleton being poured vodka and what not.

I dunno, but there is currently someone doing "art" in comic book ads for the anti-tobacco defamation league trying to target teens. One such clever catchphrase is "TOBACCO IS WACKO... if you're a teen." Way to take a frigging stand there. WE'RE ONLY TARGETTING TEENS, ergo, WE DEFINITELY HAVE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND hurrrrr. Pussies.
And the "art" that goes along with the ad is TERRIBLE. There is seriously no talent to it whatsoever. It's always some creepy-looking pseudo-human with a giant head and body parts made up from clip art taken from other sources (in other words, one hand comes from a "real person." the other holding the cig is crappily drawn, the shirt is from some 1970s sipping whiskey ad in "Oui," etc. etc.). That's what happens when kids don't get told often enough that they are worthless and that they will never amount to anything. Coddling teenagers when they are in Drawing & Painting in high school may make everybody wear a permanent smile, but it's useless at driving anybody to do anything worth looking at. I wish my own art instructors were harsher growing up, that way Usenet wouldn't have initially been such a cold electroshock shower.
But yeah. Anti-tobacco ads have done nothing but make me and thousands of others want to take up smoking.

These were paper and ink things done maybe 1800-1900s. Back in the day is such an ambiguous term.

The truth.com is rumored to be controlled by a big cigarette company. I find this really ironic.
"TOBACCO IS WACKO... if you're a teen." Way to take a frigging stand there.
The tobacco companies were putting some ads almost as bad as these out. They in essence were not trying to stop children from smoking. They wanted kids to think the ads were stupid. The Truth does the exact opposite of these ads. They make them too harsh. People don't pay attention to the truth ads either because they are too annoying and pushy. They force the information on to the public. The public turns a deaf ear.
Tobacco companys are smart and evil.
here's a little light reading

I know Parrish is out there, reading this, smirking.
May God damn you, you miserable bastard.

Whoa!
I go away for a few days and Parrish takes an extended vacation?
Fantastic! I only wish he'd taken a few of you with him when he left.
Needless to say, I'll be appearing here in greater fashion until he returns. Deal with it, bitches.
