Didn't Pirates 2 come out yet? I can't wait until Pixar comes out with a movie that turns every single inanimate item into a wacky, animated tour-de-force. Brad Bird can punch people in the face for saying that stupid kiddie cartoon is a genre. An ensemble cast can be assembled for KEYBOARDS (rated G!). Tom Hanks as "E," Tim Allen as "S," Robert Smith as "Alt," and special appearance by Kobayashi the Hot Dog Guy as "Sys Req"!

So do they make you sit through (or at least pay for) the whole double feature, there? I haven't been to a drive-in since I was eight, so I'm not really sure how these things work.

I saw Superman last Saturday, and thoroughly enjoyed it (though the fact that the movie was 6 STORIES HIGH AND (occasionally) IN 3D when I saw it makes it hard for me to give an objective rating. Ridiculously long, though.

Nacho Libre wasn't great, but was a decent enough waste of an hour and a half, except for the fact that someone decided to add a bunch of farting noises in post production because I guess they felt it wouldn't be authentic Mexico without constant flatulence.

Yes, but it's only 5 bucks for both movies. So that's not so bad. You can leave after the first one.

And come to think of it, Over the Ledge might be a good movie. They've had it at this drive-in for at least 5 weeks, though.

That's awesome, for two 1st run movies. I'm surprised they can get away with that; I mean granted there are probably fewer maintence expenses, but there's still the cost of the movies themselves (which I'm given to understand Hollywood really dicks theaters over on) and property taxes for all that empty space.

I balked at first at $15 to see Superman on an IMax, but then I remembered it cost me $12.50 to watch X-Men 3 at a regular theatre and that was the matinee price plus I had to sit through the standard 20 minutes of advertising before the movie.

Over the Ledge/Hedge is probably a fine movie as well. I know nothing about it. And I can't think of a reason why I wouldn't see Superman.

In other news, Pirates 2 should be out this weekend so perhaps that and "Click" will be there together. I guess ideally it would be Pirates and Superman. I don't see Adam Sandler yelling at people who are frozen really keeping the crowd as the second feature.

The intermission at the Holiday Twin Drive-In features animated food. It's AWESOME. I need digital pics of this. The bun makes the hot dog do tricks and then the hot dog jumps inside the bun.

From what I've heard, "Over the Hedge" is much better than "Superman Returns" - which is astonishingly mediocre, from what I've heard.

I recently re-watched the original (well, original with Reeve) Superman movie and it's great and fun from beginning to end. (Well, except seeing Superbaby's penis. If I want to see baby weiner, I'll change my kid's diaper.) Everything I've read, good and bad, talks about how the sense of fun was sucked completely out of Superman. And a burgundy cape? WTF? It ought to be bright fucking red. What's next, Spiderman fighting the Forest Green Goblin? Will The Tick start wearing earth tones?

As for Pirates 2, I was eagerly anticipating it but been disappointed with some of the reviews I've heard. Oh well. Apparently the Pirates 2-inspired changes to the original rides were very well done at least.

Only in Hollywood are the colors red, white and yellow simply not good enough. When you include race Superman has the red, white and blue thing going for him. Colors that you think would stand the test of time, but no! Not in California.

You know there's some dumb fucking script writer thinking that burgandy, azure and black would be better -- let's cast one of the Wayans brothers as Clark. It would totally work.

It's always amazed me how awful comic book movies are, but then I realized that the people putting together the scripts honestly believe that their take on the merchandise is better and more important than the best stories written over 50 years by professionals. In 40 years there have been some great X-Men stories. There have been some shitty ones too, of course, but you almost can't help but have great moments in 40 years. The guy who wrote X-Men 3 loved the idea of cars being thrown at people so that's what we got. Unbelievable.

Well, that's questionable

Of course, it's like writing for a soap opera. You have to have stuff, exciting stuff, happen for 50 years or more in some cases. How many bad guys are there for a bold superhero to beat up or get to say his name backwards and stuff...
