TECHNICAL METAL QUESTION
Listen to the first 30 seconds of Revenga up there (3.mp3). After the "soft" intro, he goes into playing quadruplets at the rate of four notes in a about a half a second.
I know metal guitarists have been doing this for many years, but here's my question:
I've got a guitar here. I've got a pick. I've got two functioning limbs and ten functioning fingers.
And I don't see how it's humanly possible.
What am I missing, metal experts? Please to with the helping?

Discounting the blue parts which are pretty unintelligible. Do they have any songs that feature more than three colors? I thought when repeated a part of the song more than three times it was a refrain.Everybody, everybody, everybody livin now,

The guitar technique is you are refering to (and this is without listening to the song) is commonly known as 'shred'playing quadruplets at the rate of four notes in a about a half a second.
Very similar to a mandolin player rapidly playing a note in some itialian spaghetti song while a gondola (driver?) sings.
It takes practice practice practice and then to throw in pull-offs and hammer-ons on the same string takes more practice.

Pull-offs/hammer-ons, I get. The only part I DON'T get is the part where you play the same note -- the SAME note, mind you, not DIFFERENT notes, which are NOT the same -- four times in 1/4 of a second. That's how fast he's playing 'em.
That's one note every 1/32 of a second. I just don't see how it's possible, unless he's finger-picking like Flamenco or something.

Compare and contrast:
Mezmerize --- St. Anger
Having not heard their brand-new album (which i think will probably come out sometime this year) I still think it's safe to say that Metallica are not the four horsemen of speed metal anymore.

3. Hit stop on your sound recording program.
4. Cut the sound so that only 1-32nd-of-a-second of the guitar strumming (from the beginning) remains of your sound.
5. Copy this sound to the clipboard.
