My complete indecision when it comes to them -- I can never tell if they'll be playing at or working for the State Fair in a couple years.Bugs wrote:You're a douche, RobBbbB. What's your beef with Tool?

First impressions (I'm listening to them as I write):
Thanks for trying though....maybe I'm just a lost cause.
Not really impressed....nothing that sets it apart from any other rock band.Bugs wrote:Clutch "The Mob Goes Wild" (should appeal to the ballsy Van Halen fan in you [note that I refer to the ballsy era of Van Halen and am not implying that you, in any way, should be construed as having balls])
"Emerge" doesn't really do much for me. Not a bad song, it just doesn't stand out in any way. I also downloaded "Sick of TV", and that's definitely not doing anything for me.Fischerspooner "Emerge" (or anything, really... if you like Gary Numan)
Doesn't sound anything like Numan! Reminds me of generic college radio, of which I'm not a fan.The Anniversary "All Things Ordinary" (might be hard to find, but should appeal to the softer side of a Numan fan)
It does? Didn't impress me at all actually.
The Von Bondies "C'mon, C'mon" (great call and response tune that recalls a lot of Ramones shit)
Thanks for trying though....maybe I'm just a lost cause.

As it turns out, when I sat down and actually read this thread I noticed that there was a website that recommended bands based on three you entered.
I didn't know "Toxic" and "Simple Plan." I downloaded an album of the latter. The first half was the sort of thing I was looking for, the last half was waaa-aaa-aaay too whiny. But of the first five songs I found two that I really, really enjoyed and they'll be in my Winamp queue for a while. Any website that can show me five listenable songs and two great (for my purposes) ones gets a thumb up from me.
Way up!

Oh, I didn't feel I could in honestly click the link when I haven't heard it. I thought it might corrupt any scientific data they are trying to gather.Vitriola wrote:If you keep clicking past the first recommend, by saying you like it or not, you get more. You MIGHT like Kyuss, 'Demon Cleaner' is a great song.
There will be a usenetting tonight.
Good point Bobby!

Your words have plagued me all my life
For Far too long
Your life is yours to control
Weakness is purely choice
Answers that you are searching for
Are all within yourself useless fuck
Your words mean nothing to me
Save your breath
Your words are meaningless.

Clutch's first two albums were fucking great with a few noteworthy tracks released here and there since then. They've since morphed into some kind of weird neo-hippie groove/jam band and it's been downhill from there. The one or two tracks I heard from their latest hints at some of the "old skool" Clutch - but the last few times we've seen them in concert was disappointing.chris wrote:First impressions (I'm listening to them as I write):

First time seeing Clutch live was in Toronto in the early 90's when they were an opening act on the Fudgetunnel, Clutch, Fear Factory, Sepultura bill. What a great show that was... unfortunately we were a few doors down in some pizza/pool/bar type of place getting shitfaced and we missed Fear Factory.

How can anyone be talking about great recent bands and not mention Evanescence? THey're my favorit band evarTM. And they're coming out with a new album in 2005! So, we'll see how that goes. How they haven't won a grammie for My Immortal two years in a row now just baffles the mind.

I don't know if you've got enough street cred built up yet for us all to assume you're joking.
