I think I am going to start watching every Caps game for the rest of the season, to see Obi break Gretzky's career goal scoring record.

Unfortunately, their next game is against Buffalo.

Earlier this season, I took the wife and daughter to a Sabres game, and watched JJ Peterka score the GWG in OT.

Tonight, my son went to the game with his girlfriend. They watched JJ Peterka score the GWG in the 4th round of the shootout.

I think JJ and the Sabres should offer us season tickets.

Kulich may be a keeper.

Scored in a 3-3 tie game just now, 1:39 left. Will the Preds score before I finish typing this message?

I've always enjoyed watching Kulich play. Glad he's finally getting a shot in Buffalo. Love seeing Peterka excel also.

Funny how the guys who percolated in Rochester are succeeding... and the guys rushed to the NHL (Power, Cozens, Quinn, Benson) are struggling...

Yeah, they can leave Konsta Helenius, Ryan Johnson (and Devon Levi for that matter) in Rochester for all of next year too as far as I am concerned. Levi being like the best goalie in the AHL has to be having some sort of positive effect on the kids. I love it. I think I know more Amerks than I've ever known in my life right now.

The Elias Pettersson dream is dead :( There were reports that Adams offered Cozens and Byram but wanted "another piece back." I choose to not believe that for my sanity.

The biggest part of this is that I was able to name three Canucks until J.T. Miller was traded. Quinn Hughes is an easy one to remember because his name sounds like a Sucidegirl.

The Oilers might be tops for me. But they have two guys named Skinner. One time for Concert Band, we had to be able to do 5 scales for Lessons and I came with a C# and then later a Db one. To his credit, Mr Bascom realized what i was trying to do and allowed, but did not sanction, my lazy buffoonery.

I guess the Sedin twins, former Cancuks, would be more equivalent. God this is a shitty post. Greetings from Planet Tramadol!

Helenius is SO GOOD. He will be a solid NHL contributor.

Ryan Johnson is already 23. I'm not sure what his role in the NHL will be. Maybe he's a bottom pairing guy at some point. He doesn't bring much offense, nor is he particular physical.

Levi, I'm afraid to say, may be overrated. He's only 23 (and I dont mind a 23yo goalie as much as a 23yo defenseman). He has a lot of good games. But he also gives up a lot of weak goals. He "floats" a lot in net, losing track of where he is in his crease, etc. I'm hoping this is something that the goaltending coaches can coach out of him. There is still long-term potential, but they need to stop calling him up to Buffalo just to get shellacked up there.

I'm fine with not getting Elias Petterson. Sounds like he was a locker room issue, and Buffalo has enough of those already. Plus, Kevyn Adams would probably fuck up and trade for the wrong one.

That was really funny (trading for the wrong one).

I am slowly re-learning the good players in the NHL. Sounds like Elias might have tendonitis. He should go to a place that can let him rest for the next 9 months, haha.

I just wish the Sabres were good. God, I'd love to fly back for a playoff game. This off-season, hope we fire Kevyn (nothing personal, I'd let him run drafts to be honest), draft Michael Misa - meaning, someone else take that defenseman #1 overall and not us, extend Bo Byrum and JJ Peterka. Get a LUMBERING physical defenseman to pair with Power and then use our cap space intelligently and effectively.

We have that defenseman in Rochester now... Nikita Novikov is 6'4, 207lbs. Reminds me of Rumun Ndur, but more mobile and more offense, not as nasty. He'll get a look in Buffalo eventually... I have to think Lindy is looking for that kind of defenseman.

Tonight was game 1 of the Four Nations Tournament, the NHLs replacement for the All Star weekend. It was SO MUCH more entertaining. Bettman finally got something right.

The Four Nations tournament is the best idea that Bettman has had since becoming commissioner of the NHL 31 years ago.

The "skills competition" and "all-star game" were as laughable as the NFL versions. No contact, all offense, no serious competition at all.

This year, the NHL went to a "best-on-best" tournament, with the US, Canada, Sweden and Finland fielding teams. They play each other once each, round-robin format, with the top 2 teams playing for the championship at the end.

Game 1... Sweden takes Canada to OT before losing 4-3.
Game 2... Finland plays the US tight for the first half before the US blows it open, winning 6-1.
Game 3... Finland comes from behind to tie Sweden, and then wins 4-3 in OT.
Game 4... US vs Canada. This is what we get.

I LOVE that the players are taking this seriously. This is so much better than an All-Star game.

I went to the Canadian Broadcasting website and watched the fights there without having to log in or worry aboat it being age-restricted. Canadians are less nannied, but I'm glad to see the U.S. won

No, it's only bad in Buffalo. For anyone else, it's an obvious win. For Buffalo, it's 50/50.

Luckily they held on tonight.

Alexander Ovechkin is within 8 goals of becoming the NHL's all-time goal scoring leader.

I have become a Washington Capitals fan, and their games have become must-watch.

I thought that record was unbreakable.

I guess I like the Dylan Cozens for John Norris trade. I suppose.

No, its terrible.

Josh Norris is smaller, scores less, is more injury prone, is less physical, and makes more money.

Other than change for the sake of change, I dont understand this trade at all.

And I'm not even a big Dylan Cozens fan.

I hate when the Caps are on the West Coast. It's 1am and I'm still up watching hockey. I need to go to bed.
