Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Is anyone watching this?
I am not one of the "cool kids" who shits all over the new Star Wars stuff, including that on Disney+. I have enjoyed every Star Wars series put out on D+ to this point (to different extents). Andor has been FAR AND AWAY the best, but I'm ok with the Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, The Book of Boba Fett (mostly), etc.
But man. Skeleton Crew? It is just horrible. The first episode was an hour-long mess with no plot. The second episode tried, but still fell short. I'm watching episode 3 right now, and it's still not going anywhere.
The casting is terrible. I dont care about any of these kids at all. Jude Law MIGHT be OK as the "lead adult".
The writing is horrific. The plot is going nowhere, and I dont feel vested in this at all.
At least it looks and feels Star Wars-y. The effects are decent. It "fits" from a technology perspective.
But man, I need something better. This is such a mess.

Thanks for the heads up. We made it about 15 min in before deciding we weren't in the mood. Were gonna give it another go but not now.
Also, Andor was the best of the streaming shows so far, Bad Bunch wasn't bad for a cartoon.
Speaking of Andor, Rogue One is the best of the movies. The only one with real drama cuz everyone dies at the end.

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
I saw Skeleton Crew come up as a choice last night and clicked on it to see what it was all about. Something like "four young children get trapped in the Star Wars galaxy" and then a small version of the blue musician from either the cantina scene or Hutt's palace was there. I try not to be a hater but if there is one franchise that proved it can't do kids, it's Star Wars. I think there's a better chance I'd try out a new Christmas special from them.

I want to like Star Wars so badly. Why do they do this to us.

I'd argue that the Star Wars cartoons (The Clone Wars and Rebels) were decent kid-friendly shows. I'm OK with shows FOR kids. But I dont want shows ABOUT kids.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:54 pm I saw Skeleton Crew come up as a choice last night and clicked on it to see what it was all about. I will keep watching out of necessity, hoping that it has that KICK ASS moment. Kinda like at the end of Ahsoka, which made the entire series worthwhile. But I'm losing hope.

Agreed, although I thoroughly enjoyed Solo too. I wish it had dont better at the theater, I wanted a sequel badly. I'm still holding out hope for a decent Lando movie (which is theoretically being done, but will probably get cancelled like every other intriguing Star Wars project).Speaking of Andor, Rogue One is the best of the movies. The only one with real drama cuz everyone dies at the end.
