Remember that time?

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Hey, Milker, remember that time when I showed up to work the day after my birthday still inebriated due to the night before and has to ask off for the rest of the day due to "flu-like symptoms" while you chuckled like someone had let laughing gas into the lab?

Hey, Walrustitty, remember that time I spent an entire two weeks at your house because your parents had gone off to Florida and all that we really did was go to MCC (in my case) and work (in yours) and try to copy over those Atari 8-bit floppies?

Hey, Da King, remember that time the Amerks clocked Springfield in the Calder Cup finals and then Humberto Roque attempted to clock all of us?

Hey, Violet, remember that time I broke "quarantine," hung out with you at Jeff's apartment and played Thrill Kill, and then was at least partially responsible for giving you and your entire family the self-same sickness?

Hey, Greg, remember that time we were trying to get the superhero game finished before the comp deadline and at the last minute we put the Demetrius DeBose Jr comment in the XYZZY response, ensuring that it would be utterly incomprehensible except to you, me, and the late Demetrius DeBose Sr.?

Hey, Gerrit, remember that time you sent me an autographed picture of yourself as a Christmas card?

Hey, Lex, remember that time you found and wandered into a professional green room and took a bunch of pictures of yourself?

Hey, Straw, remember that time the both of us got heckled by a stripper for not doing nearly enough leering?

Hey, Danzaland, remember that time you got about five and a half seconds worth of hangtime with that cat?

Hey, Bugs, remember that time where I expressed how much regret that I had that you never had a chance to meet up with the bunch of us in the dial-up days? (OK, I may have not actually done this. But come this Christmas, if you're back in town, this is gonna change.)

Hey, Roody, remember that time you made the "Texas Hold'Em Shirt" comment, and me making the subsequent call to my voicemail so I would remember?

Hey, Aardvark, remember that time you got past the orange-robe-wearing monk in "The Pawn" right in front of me?

Hey, Vitriola, do you remember the outcome of that SU-Miami game?

Hey, Worm, remember that time you RAN this place for most of the week?

Hey, Bruce, remember that time you got interviewed by the RFTK site and just started letting loose "nutlump" comments?

Hey, Aaron, remember that time when you used to frequent my freaking BBSs, I mean, remember that time when you managed to have St. Claire and Mrs B both groping at you from opposite sides and both unknowing of the other's intentions?

Hey, Souffle, remember that time you spent a moment not acting like a complete, suffering piece of human refuse?

Hey, Pinback, remember that time I sent you that Annoyotron review?

Hey, bot, remember that time we didn't mention you in the HAPPY DAY greetings?

Hey, Yumiko, remember that time you posted and didn't get like ten testosterone-filled, slobbering replies from the gallery back in reply?

... Yeah? Yeah. I remember that, too.

I never thought of that. Now that you mention it though...I just checked groucho. That party was before we all got sick. My mom thanks you.

Well, in exactly 7 days, my ass will be in a U-Haul heading back to Rochester with all my shit, so it looks as if I will be in town for Christ's Mass.

Yeah, I've never actually met any of you people (except some folks from the dial-up daze that are no longer JC denizens). As far as I know, you're all just fabrications of the Internet, some wee fanny's sexual fantasties gone horribly awry.

Oh, holy cow. Wow -- are you moving with a job lined up, or are you planning on roughing it for a bit? Best of luck with that, either way.

Some of us are, I confess to that -- and some of us are both, like for instance your friendly neighborhood sise-op, who is a male-based experiment straight out of the movie "Weird Science" gone horribly wrong -- but a few others of us get together when I am in town. I'm coming up the first week of October, so I'll be sure to hit you up when the bunch of us are inevitably over at Walrustitty's house.

Yeah, "roughing" it for a bit. Boston hasn't worked out as well as I had hoped, and my girlfriend's got a good job in Rochester, so she's got less reason to move than I do right now. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in Boston, and probably not Rochester either. But as they say,
"shit or get off the can." If I'm not going to get off the can, I might as well be not shitting where the rent is cheaper. Ya know?

Not to be a schmuck, but Bugs, you'll find that most of the old JC crew tends to frequent my BBS, while JC is mostly populated by the "new folks", ie, Jonsey's "interactive fiction" buddies.

Just saying, y'know. The old group is alive and well, and many of them, for whatever reason, never really visit the new JC very often.

As Jonsey says, a get-together at my place is inevitable next time he's in town, and will probably include old JC regulars such as Jonsey, Da King, Loafergirl, Chris, Carolina Bunky, Nessman, Aardvark, and, well, me. I can try but would probably fail at getting Oh Niner to show up. Other "newer" folks would be there, too, such as the appropriate-to-wear-white Violet.

FWIW, Jonsey, Boop ("Mrs B"?) categorically denies any memory of the Aaron-related incident in question.

Though, she also doesn't remember and is shocked when I remind her of some of the rather inappropriate things I did to her the last time we all went out to a bar and she got drunk, so it is possible that her memory may just block out such things.

I'm a buddy who isn't very good at interactive fiction and asked thirty questions about the games.

Since Bugs isn't an "old fart," doesn't enjoy in-line pictures of cocks and isn't the kind of guy likely to spend 1 out of every 3 posts blasting the shit out of you, I wonder if the "magic" of Groucho.org is lost on him.

Anyway, if he does sign up, at least make sure you give him access to the non-public bases over there. That's right, I said it and I'll say it again.

We are taking Oh-Niner out to dinner when I am up in October. This is GOING to happen. I just made five grand for doing little else than carrying myself with charisma and boyish, yet rogueish, good looks, so you better believe it's payback time for all the times that Joe picked up the check when you and I were combining for about $16 an hour.

If he's out there, tell him "it's on." IT'S ON JOE!! IT IS FAWKING ON!!!

FWIW, Jonsey, Boop ("Mrs B"?) categorically denies any memory of the Aaron-related incident in question.
That's nice that she finally got out of her "slut" phase. It's unfortunate that it took 10 years, but what the hey. She had a run like Kirby Puckett. Short, but sweet, and really when you think about it not all that short.

Gold can tell the story and "set the scene" in a much better way than I can, seeing how I was not involved, but legend goes that Gold was in the middle and both of the girls started moving their slim, delicate little fingers all about him, and he could only sit back and hope that their hands didn't strike each other. T'hell with "Panic" Room," *that* would make a hell of a text adventure. Well, a puzzle anyway.

Though, she also doesn't remember and is shocked when I remind her of some of the rather inappropriate things I did to her the last time we all went out to a bar and she got drunk, so it is possible that her memory may just block out such things.
Oh, right on. Tell Tammy that I impaled her last time I was in town like she was the moon and I was Neil Armstrong's flag: quickly, firmly, and for my country. If she can't remember enough to deny any of this shit I am adding her to the coveted System Operator Have-Bedded List.

Remember that time I wasn't still hungover at 3:15 pm? Ow.

I'd completely forgotten about ol' Demetrius DeBose, though. Did anyone ever comment on it? Any reviews giving you points off for obscure XYZZY references?

I remembered my joke, of course, since hey, I only made it a week and a half ago although I didn't remember that you put it in your voice mail or whatever. I definitely want to make a shirt like that for the next time I go to Vegas.

"Blast it to hell! " Captain America, the Sixties

I knew there was someone I was forgetting. As soon as I saw you logged in I knew who it was. My defense was going to be "if they only posted as guests I'd forget, because I was only going off the userlist and also they needed to have posted in the last couple of weeks" but I still knew someone wasn't there. Sorry, man. I still think of you as "James Bond" and not "Lysander."

Oh, and I only didn't mention the Debaser and PTX in case they were lurking, as I understand it they'll both be back after the summer. The Debaser is actually quite close to getting his degree as a matter of fact. And while choosing education over the BBS isn't a choice that I made all the time, I am quite glad that he is doing the right thing.

Hey, Lysander, remember that time when you went onto IRC and went into all of the cybersex rooms as Father OBrian, claiming to be--and I quote--a "35-year-old catholic priest from New York City, looking for most preferably a few altar boys under the age of 11, for... chat. MSN me at the following addresses if interested: [insert three MSN addresses of worst hated enemies>."? Got banned from eight different channels that night, if memory serves. Man, those were the days...

I made no claims about the magic, just saying that they are there.

Done, and done.

Sounds like a WINNING PLAN. I did speak to him for a couple hours on the phone not long ago, but haven't actually seen him in person since... geez, since the wedding, over a year ago now. I even made a Burns & Allen DVD for him that is sitting at our place gathering dust.

Is it? Is it really? (I mean, nice that it's over.)

Good luck with that. Considering the liberties I've taken that she has no memory of, I'd say that you might be able to sneak that one by.

Maybe I'll ask her for "one more hummer, just for old time's sake." Heh, heh, heh. (Good thing my wife has a sense of humor about her!)
