If you were anymore of a PTA fanboy, you'd start pretending to be the man's father at actual PTA meetings.

I don't care about "Boogie Nights." This is my final post in this thread.

You're just WRONG. That's all. No offense. You're just plain wrong. I don't care about the 70's or about the inner workings of porn either, but jesus goddamn christ, my man, get a CLUE.

I've been waiting for a thread like this to crack back on Jones here. The fact that he won't post here if he has a shred of honor makes it all the better.

He really does have an ability to appreciate fine cinema that comes directly from a four-year old. Some of the statements he makes leads me to think that he also prefers fingerpainting to the Mona Lisa and a special needs orangutan humming "Three Blind Mice" to Beethoven's 5th.

Let's take "Boogie Nights" for example. Aside from his more hilarious comments like, "I don't like movies set in California" (??????) Boogie Nights offers an interesting and quite compelling character story about a charismatic and important character. It's wonderful. This kid who adapted the Dirk Diggler moniker.... he DID things. He was IMPORTANT. It's, frankly, disgusting to me that Jones doesn't see that. It makes me want to punch him over and over again until I've found the exact body part which is stopping him from enjoying this masterpiece and then just start pummeling the offending organ or bit of tissue until it's raw and bleeding and unrecogniseable.

Boogie Nights? Boogie Nights he chooses not to enjoy? What a FUCKING MORON. It's genius. Four stars, Ben? I agree without reservation. I'd put it up there on any "list" as well.

Casablanca. Chinatown. The Godfather. Boogie Nights? I say "yes." I say it belongs in that four star, classic, famous lineup. THE MAN HAD SEX FOR MONEY, JONES! ON VIDEO!!! YOU FUCKING DROOLING HUNCHED-OVER TROGLODYTE CHILD, HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THIS, HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THE SHEER QUALITY AND GENIUS AT WORK HERE? WHAT THE FUCK IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? BOOGIE NIGHTS IS A GEM, A MASTERPIECE OF OUR TIME THAT WILL BE ON "CLASSICS" LIST FOR CENTURIES TO COME AND ANY MAN WHO DOES NOT SEE IT FOR THE POINTED, IMPORTANT, FUN, WELL-DIRECTED FEATURE THAT IT IS, WITH GOOD PRODUCTION VALUES AND DIRECTION AND SCREENPLAY AND ACTING -- MARKY MARK *AND* HEATHER GRAHAM IN THE SAME MOVIE? SIGN ME UP! THEY WILL BOTH WIN MULTIPLE ACADEMY AWARDS THEY ARE LIKE A YOUNG BOGART AND BERGMAN -- DESERVES TO FUCKING DIE.

FUCKING DIE, JONES!! DIE!!

Er... yeah!! ... You're an idiot, Jones!

(Christ, Parrish, bring it a little harsher than that. The boy dissed BOOGIE NIGHTS not the Muppets Take Manhattan. Let's get a little more vicious, OK?)

What, I'm going to convince you it's a good movie? Of course not. If you can sit through that whole movie and come out of it saying, "Whoa, that sucked", then there's such an enormous chasm between how each of us defines "quality" in a film, that it's just pointless to talk about.

It's like trying to convince a vegetarian that a perfectly-cooked filet mignon is one of the finest joys of life.

Falling on deaf ears. Wasted time.

And, as you know from my other thread which nobody commented on except to make their own idiotic social plans in October, I am not into wasting time lately.

I don't understand. I liked Boogie Nights. A lot.

I agree with this, because I liked that movie.

Vegetarians are like people who don't like Paul Thomas Anderson's films, or what I like to call, human by-product.

I'm not so hot on the deaf either. We think a lot more alike than I knew, Parrish.

I'm planning on attending Danzaland's wedding... with a chainsaw.

In between posting these ridiculous Souffle of Pain posts, Jonsey has been sending me non-sequiturial, hateful, fully-capitalized emails via the internet.

I do not think our boy is well. I think it's time for an intervention.

For the record, that other thread totally lost me before I ever got a chance to even know what the hell it was about. That said, I may also be in New York in October, just not the same part as those other people.

I *AM* the Law!: I just called what I think was Ben.
souffle21083: what do you mean?
I *AM* the Law!: Ben told me to call a number. I did so. I asked for Ben. I was told that I had a wrong number.
souffle21083: ok... following...
I *AM* the Law!: And then I get some e-mails from him laughing at me. What kind of guy thinks that saying "You have the wrong number!!" is funny?
souffle21083: Call this number: (number deleted)
I *AM* the Law!: OK... one sec...
I *AM* the Law!: Asshole.
souffle21083: Hahahahahah! You really are a gullible fucker!

I just reverse-crank-called Jonsey.

I've never been prouder, personally. All the pain, all the emptiness, all the futile longing for a reason to live? Forgiven.

None of this would have happened if you'd just...

If you'd just LIKED BOOGIE NIGHTS. That's where it all starts, and that's where it all ends.

(Unless you finally watch Magnolia and come around on that.)

You are all hateful, cruel people and I no longer wish to associate with any of you on any level. I will be shutting this place down forever in the morning. The experiment was a failure and I refuse to be humilated along these lines any longer.

Better to do it while I still have more posts than pinback, I guess. It's a great thing he didn't log in for so long.

So, I don't know about movies. I have no idea what makes them great or doesn't. I know some I enjoy for reasons such as plot, characters, humor, if people to amazing stunts, or how much kung fu there is.

I liked boogie nights.
Pros:
+ Showed that desperation and cock sucking are ultimately caused by porno and coke.
+ Showed banks don't like porno stars
+ You can jerk off to it in a pinch
Cons:
- I mean how far can you go if you are making the story of John Holmes without the name?
- The whole sign lighting up business ... did we lay it on too thick that he was a small town kid?
- Could we of fleshed out the people more? Or followed them more than a month in their lives?

Maybe I didn't like it. Maybe I have no good taste.
Good point Bobby!

You're thinking of a different movie, Worm. In Boogie Nights, we follow all of the main characters for at least six years, 1977 - 1983.
Maybe I didn't like it. Maybe I have no good taste.
Maybe you didn't see it. (But if in fact you DID see it, then yes, I agree with both of those statements.)

Oh, geez I forgot that party that is there for no reason other than to mark the passing of time and if it didn't say GOOD BYE SEVENTIES (or something to that effect) no one would of known ... I forgot that part.
Good point Bobby!
