But I don't want to talk about that, I assume none of you guys except for Flack would entertain the notion of the world being better with more Clerks stuff in it. APPARENTLY Jeff Anderson, who plays Randall Graves, got dicked around by Harvey Weinstein when it came to pay for a potential Clerks 3, back before Weinstein was outed as a fat sexual predator. This is just going off dumb comments on Dark Horizons (I'd put their comment base as above Rock Paper Shotgun, but below Blues News and a million times better than Youtube, if that helps gauge them):

So I think that negativity along with a a negative view of the Weinsteins and their unwillingness to pay him fairly (or maybe even a little high), was something he could never move past. Don't know he even read the script, let alone had a bad view of it.

I don't know if this guy means to say what he said, but I love the idea of the people before Weinstein's outing who were disgusted with him were every single woman in Hollywood and Jeff Anderson.

Man, I don't even know where to begin.

First, Jeff Anderson. From what I've read, he wasn't happy with how he was cast in the original Clerks and didn't even want to do Clerks II -- but he did. I can't imagine he has "fuck you" money, but I can't tell that he has a day job so maybe he does. I think part of it is he doesn't like Weinstein personally, and part is he doesn't like that they (as a company) tried to shaft him on salary, and part of it is that his own movies didn't catch on and were overshadowed by Smith's, so maybe there's some resentment there for that.

There's not much I can say about Kevin Smith that hasn't already been said. I've watched Clerks within the past year and boy does it not hold up. Just long, drawn out scenes with bad acting and mini plots that go nowhere. Every time he drifts away from his View Askewniverse he ends up falling hard and running back.

He's already said that the Clerks III he was going to make has been trashed and he's writing an all new script, which I assume is (at least in part) to appease Anderson and get him on board. Smith's press release which stresses that this movie is about Randall and Dante (with Jay and Silent Bob in supporting roles) pretty much confirms this.

I think part of the problem (and this is my own weird theory) is that Smith worked at a video store before he worked at the convenient store, so Randall is early Smith and Dante is later (then current) Smith. And so in Clerks II, you get resolution for Dante, which Smith sees as himself, but not much for Randall. It's Dante who goes through the emotional breakup and love story and all that while Randall just doesn't want to lose his friend and wants to work at the convenient store forever. So my guess is Anderson demanded a rewrite where Clerks III isn't just about Dante, but the two of them both growing up and moving on.
