Stupid, stupid people

Post by AArdvark » Fri Jan 26, 2018 6:25 pm

On every cover there is some really stupid fad diet plan headline and on the bottom are pictures of sweets and baked goods. Remember this is a weekly magazine, which averages out to be 50+ diet plans in a year. The women ( and fagitts!) who read this rag must have terrible ADD. Or they must have body shame issues which are overshadowed by pictures of desserts and they can't help themselves so they buy this stuff while waiting at the grocery checkout. Surely they must see the inherent duplicity of a diet headline and centerfold spread of cupcakes. I guess they don't because the formula works to sell copies every week.

There's more, but I sprained my left wrist an it hurts to type, especially ranting about something stupid like this and not quality posts, like...like....oh, anything else.

In one of my early writing classes, someone asked the professor what's a sure fire way to land on the New York Times Best Sellers list. She replied, "write a diet or cookbook." You would think eventually people would run out of new and interesting ways to say "eat less, move more," and that at some point people would tire of buying them over and over, but according to every list of best selling books, we haven't reached either of those thresholds yet.

Flack, Baseball games have been played on a daily basis for over 100 years. There is absolutely nothing new about baseball that has not happened before, and yet people (read "mostly men") still find baseball games exciting.

Wait, what does baseball have to do with diet books or cookbooks?

True, but they still sell watermelons with seeds, even though seedless ones are available everywhere.

Seedless watermelons suck ass, no flavor compared to the good old fashioned oval watermelons.

I'm having an organic, cage-free fresh watermelon shipped to me for $150.

Did you know that's how they get the water into the watermelons?

They plant them in the spring.

Ahahahaha!!! The spring!

Sounds reasonable, Pinback. A caged watermelon only goes for about 35$ less than that.

Hey guys, nothing new ever happens in baseball, according to an invalid who has never watched a single baseball game! HOW DOES he manage to be such an expert on so many varied topics?

You didn't need to bring up the fact that Paul is disabled, that was just taking things a little bit too far in my opinion.

Good point, I believe your role as forum arbiter of good taste is a good thing, but: can you walk?
