Post by pinback »

Simple question.
I don't have to say anything. I'm a doctor, too.

I can only think of four reasons:

1. You prefer room-temperature apples.
2. You think that because other types fruit are destroyed by refrigeration, this also applies to apples.
3. You don't have a refrigerator.
4. You don't have apples.

Off the top of my head, I feel like citrus, strawberries, peaches all dry out and get terrible up in the fridge.

And tomatoes, of course, but I don't want to come across as "guy who makes sure you know he considers tomatoes a fruit".

Apples go on the counter. Apple cider goes in the fridge. Apple Jacks goes in the pantry.

No. When I tried a couple times, the apples became soft and mushy. They stay crisp for much longer outside the fridge.

Oh so that’s why there are fruit bowls on tables. This poll is an enlightening one indeed.

In my experience, all apples do that. Not mushy to the touch though. They still feel firm in your hand. It's when you eat them that they feel off. They're not crisp anymore. Not sure how to describe it. "Sandy" I guess? If you don't put them in the fridge, they feel fresh for longer.
