Analysis of identity of user Uruzrune

Post by Tdarcos »

Given the limited history and information i have, I have decided to examine this user Uruzrune sua sponte and make a tentative judgment. If I have made an error in my thinking, I'm sure someone will correct me.

First, this user is a confirmed user. This board, unlike places like Wikipedia, does not support automatic creation of accounts on a user's request, a sysop has to approve raising an applicant to registered.

This user was approved yesterday.

Since Jonsey has run off RetroRomper, I do not believe he would subsequently allow him back on under a new name. At least he has claimed to have revoked (or suspended) Retro's membership. Or taken it "down for retooling."

New users here are very rare, I think Billy Mays is the only one over about the last five years.

Applicants requesting admittance would get somewhat more heightened scrutiny due to their extreme rarity. "This is not Caltrops" where they'll let any
Cretinous Reprobate walk in off the street. Or Wikipedia, but even they put restrictions on accounts less than 3 days old, and fewer restrictions after the account has 100 edits.

With the exception of Orc's Head Tavern unregistered users cannot even see the "Above the Line" (non-technical) forums messages here, let alone read them. Using a Firefox "porn mode" (private browsing) window, I have confirmed that only Orc's head and the technical (Below the Line) "JC Games" forums are visible to a non-logged-in user.

This person made a direct observation about Pinback that could only be made by someone having intimate knowledge of the messages and culture here. Such knowledge could not be obtained except by having the capability to read all the Above the Line forums here.

Jonsey knows who this person is, and would have to in order to raise their status to approved.

Therefore, I have come to the following tentative conclusions as to the probable identity of our (allegedly) new user Dross, or Bull Head, or Water, or whichever translation of the rune "Ur" that (presumably) he is using.

Probabilities of the identity of user Uruzrune:

90% Ice Cream Jonsey
5% Billy Mays (being immediately familiar with the meaning of the name)
3.5% Some other user or former user of Jolt Country except RetroRomper
1% An actual new user
0.5% RetroRomper

Nice try, Jonsey. Next time you want to fake a new user, first announce to encourage new users you're opening up all forums for reading by non-logged-in users, and second, that you're allowing autoconfirmation by e-mail response. Would have been more plausible. Which reminds me, I need to change something on TVTropes.

Uruz, this is Tdarcos. As I probably mentioned to you before, he always gets everything wrong, and likes to spend pages and pages doing it.

Let's give uruzrune the benefit of the doubt and welcome him (?) to the board. Welcome, uruzrune! The fact that he came here and immediately started talking about pinback instead of saying hello or introducing himself to the board makes me think he's legit. If Ben were to recruit a new poster who is urbane, well-rounded, and not in the slightest bit obsessed with pinback, THEN I'd be suspicious. I give it three years before we get a new set of PMs to read.

Retro is going through a bipolar incident and when he is better he can return.

We get a new registration every once in a while but most people do not stick around.

No they don't, all are welcome.

Really? Is that true? Are you sure?

No, I would activate them if they didn't seem like a spammer, that's it. That's the only criteria.

For the love of all missing women and girls in this country, never involve yourself in a professional investigation. Also you are wrong about your conclusion here.

How do you tangle up posting a wiki link and being immediately familiar with something?

In this thread, Tdarcos P.I. adds 90%, 5%, 3.5%, 1%, and 0.5%, and comes up 100% wrong.

Okay then as I pointed out, I gave my reasons for suspecting that Uruzrune was a sockpuppet account. His behavior seemed odd for somene only here one day, and yes, I do know if you're not registered you can only see Orcs Head and the JC games bases; the others are hidden.

As for what drugs I'm on, I've posted it here before. This is from Aug 12, 2019:
Now this is ridiculous: Cost of my prescriptions for one month
And the latest one (for shaking):
I guess this counts as news: I now know what I'm taking

So given that i was wrong, I apologize, and i would like to welcome Uruzrune as our newset member. Perhaps he'd like to introduce himself. Or herself if applicable.

Given the automatic suspicion and "analysis" -- no.
