Hey, how often do you get new SOCKS. I want to get a good baseline here for some anti-Soviet trolling I'm planning on doing later. (You're welcome, democracy.) Answer the poll!

Several years ago I threw away all my underwear and bought two weeks worth of my favorite brand. No more of that "oh, I like this pair but not that pair" bullshit in the morning. We're talking Steve Jobs levels of streamlining here. I liked it so much that a year or two ago I threw away all my socks and did the same thing. No more digging in the morning for two that match. All of my socks are the same now. Any two I pull out of the drawer are guaranteed to match. That being said, some of the ones I threw away were a decade old.

Until there's holes in them. For thin, summer socks, this can happen in less than a couple years. For warm winter socks, I still have pairs from like 1999 :-P

Do you guys every feel like some of the socks have, like, a betrothed and try to get the "right" identical pairs together?

DarnTough lover right here!

I still own and use all of their wool socks that I purchased in 2009, including one pair that I thrashed when skateboarding by cutting open my ankle.

What option should I pick if I continue to use socks covered in blood?

I buy the bulk packs of plain white crew socks, as close to 100 percent cotton as I can find. Then I dye them in a variety of bold colors. Since 1980 or so I have never matched my socks, except at weddings. Like Stephen Wright said: "some people match by color, I match by thickness."

They usually last a year to 2 years before the holes start showing up, then I toss them.

Can't compromise on socks. Nice socks just feel good and I don't miss the days of skateboarding or mowing grass and having the rear of my sock slip down underneath my heel. Used to when budget was tight though. I'm a 6 months to a year guy. I usually buy myself a new pack of nice white socks shortly after x-mas every year.
