There used to be a cool pizza shop in Fredericksburg with a coctail Ms. Pac Man that I would play while my parents finished their second pitcher before finishing our drive to Winston Salem. Fredericksburg was the spot to stop on i-95 trips.

I didn't even see Fredericksburg, except for the Interstate and the front of the Ramada Inn, or whatever the place we crashed for the night was. Honestly, after eight hours on the road it was just a blur. You drive all day and everything is still the same stores and restaurants. Sometimes I hate America.

All of the houses in the Outer Banks have cute names. Ours was hidden from view under the car park

My mom called to tell me she got her first ever smartphone and could I help her set it up. Before now (2022) she had a fifteen dollar flip phone. I'm in the beach and booze capital of America and she wants what?

Oh, and her monitor died and she cant play Diablo 3...

Call me back in a week..

WINSTON - DAYUM - SAYLUM

I avoid that downtown and Stratford Rd / Hanes Mall Blvd area as much as possible ever since I didn't have to drive there for work. Fuck that place!

Fam still has grandparents place on Roslyn Road, I grew up going to WS multiple times a year. Miss the Moravian Christmas, the Haynes outlet store, the Original Krispy Kreme, Old Salem, yard sale culture, AMD that weird junky surplus store I'll have to look up now.

While driving down the main drag I kept seeing all the same stores every few miles. For example, Super Wings is a big t-shirt shop and there's at least 12 of them on the same road. At one point in Duck I saw a Super Wings store across the street from another Super Wings store. It's worse then Starbucks. Then it hit me, It's very like the Hanna-Barbera cartoons where the same three seconds of background scrolls by when the characters drive.

We had breakfast there on our way out of town. "Restaurant" is a bit generous.

Lemme know if you go to the Jolly Roger. Almost across the street from the Sea Ranch hotel, which is where we always (2 out of 2 times) go.
I don't have to say anything. I'm a doctor, too.

It's a gas station that serves food. I just got a kick out of the name. Didn't actually eat there.

Only place we ate so far was lunch at the Shipwreck the day we got here while while waiting for the 4PM check-in. What we do is bring enough food for the week so we never go to restaurants except on Friday dinner. I'll put the J-R on the list of possibles and see what everyone thinks.

Update: the Jolly Roger is only ten minutes away from our place
