I smashed my thumb at work six months ago and it's still recovering. The paint on the fingernail is me painting the living room because it's been six years since I painted it last and it's time for a new color.

It's been about 3 years since I permanently stopped nail biting. I think I but them for probably 37, 38 years. I do have to use a glass nail file multiple times a day, and I have to bring one on trips. I can't stand the feeling of the nails being long and typing and feeling the nail on a keyboard key.

I always had long fingernails as a kid. I don't know why, and it was terribly embarrassing. I remember accidentally scratching my friends or having people notice and it was humiliating. One time in karate class one of the instructors noticed my nails and told me to cut them. I still remember that day. Anyway, around the time I got my first job I bought some fingernail clippers and started cutting my nails habitually. I keep a pair in my laptop bag and cut them every other Monday, and sometimes more frequently than that. I actually use toenail clippers and dig down as close to the quick as possible.

There was this awesome chick in my small-circle Ju-Jitsu class named Leilani. I renamed Tifa in FF7 for PS1 after her as she reminding me of the character. Horse-riding chick with mounting legs for years and mean as shit when she wanted to be. I really admired her. One day, we were grappling and when she went for a leg bar she yelled "Ugh!, cut your toe-nails!" Felt horrible. Was at that school for a couple years more so obviously it was not a problem after I was better about this element of hygiene.. but yeah man, as the kids say I definitely "Died inside" a bit.

Me.

Back when I smoked cigarettes, I often alternated between redneck grip from the thumb and first finger to the dainty grip between the first finger and second.
