Who wants to play "The Thing"?

I found a thread on Q23 that is basically BBS The Thing. I've noticed that lately a bunch of people are happily enough to log on here but there is not a lot to talk about. So perhaps this would be fun.

What is The Thing? The Thing is a movie by John Carpenter. It's excellent. In the movie the Thing turns the humans into a monster, but when the human is a monster he exhibits no obvious signs.
Rules:

1. There are 2 roles -- Humans and Things. No Seer.

2. The Moderator randomly chooses the first Thing. The first Thing secretly chooses a second Thing.

3. Each day, everyone alive gets to vote for a person to Test. If the person Tested is a Human, they live, and stay in the game. If the person Tested is a Thing, they die, and are out of the game.

4. There are at least 2 Tests a day. Regardless of the results of the first test, the day ends on any failed test after the first. This means that the Things could be killed in one day if the Humans are lucky or good.

5. Each night, the Things pick another Human to turn into a Thing. The Human is told they are a Thing, and the identities of the other Things via PM.

6. The game ends when there are more Things than Humans, or all the Things are dead. The "side" you are on is the last role you were.

7. Ties for testing are broken by a coin flip by the Moderator.

Who would like to play? You would basically need to log on a couple times a day and discuss strategy as well as who should be tested next.
I'm in, I guess. Although I think really a MUD is probably a better environment for this, and I don't see where the strategy is. Without a seer (as in Werewolf) the humans are just guessing.

What's the fun part?

What does the seer do that picking people to be tested as Things doesn't? Doesn't the seer just get info from the DM as to whether or not the suspected player is a werewolf?

(There also like really needs to be a text-based version of this game, seeing how the PC and PS2 version of The Thing was a disappointment that didn't play by the correct "rules.")

Why is this fun? We pick a random person every day until we run out of people? What is that? Why is that fun?

I don't get it.

But perhaps that's because... I'M A THE THING!

(This is in the middle of a thread.)

It's a game, so remember that as well. Who will win? Humans... or Things???!

I, too, offer the hand of friendship and alien infection to World of Pandas. I'm surprised we got to 6 this quickly. This is awesome!

Now you need to create reasons to constantly check your shitty forum?

Should of died when the BBS was turned off.

When was the BBS turned off? What? I don't think this is the reality check I truly DO need. Can someone create "Improved Reality Check"?

Also, yes, you have THING written all over you.

I don't understand the strategy involved in this... THING or how it's "fun" precisely either (do we play characters? Have discourse aruging the merrits of our thing-ness?) but I don't really give a shit and have pretty much nothing better to do these days, so suah.
