Slain: Back from Hell (PC, 2016)

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

This came out in 2016 and I liked it. Apparently the community of this game did not. The developers reworked it and it looks, sounds and plays better than I remember.

There is a "metal" soundtrack playing at all times in the game. I don't know the specific subgenre. The tempos aren't fast if that helps?

I needed a little bit of mindless fun tonight because I am on vacation starting to day and there are some things I need to accomplish before I restart work in January. Slain was fun, it wasn't even that mindless. It supports checkpoints and I had to think a little bit about what I needed to do differently. I think you get infinite continues. It did play really well with the Steam Gamepad (my 2016 post about it asked that question. Well asked and NOW answered, past-me). And look at it. I don't know if these screenshots are doing it justice. It had support for 3000x-ish by 2500 ish - I used to have resolutions memorized and I do not anymore. Whatever I am running. 3840x2160.

The dude has a sword that slices up the bad guys really well. You can use mana for a magical strike. You can also dodge and block and crouch and jump, waddaya want. It's $6.49 on Steam at the moment. I am going to review it positively over there.

I probably am just bad at these games, but I did find that learning the timing on combat had a bit of a learning curve. Still, yes, I find the game fair and very enjoyable. This is one of the few games that I stopped playing because some parts were so cool that I wanted to wait until someone else was watching so I could share the moment with them, haha.

Haha I know that feeling quite well (wanting to show someone parts of a game). Also, while I've always loved Castlevania style games, I've still yet to beat Castlevania - Rondo of Blood for PC Engine Super CD-ROM.

I should post these.

No game review last night. I stumbled upon what people said was a way to get P.T. onto your PS4 but it didn't work.
