OK. I was wrong. I bought _The Rising_ (the new Springsteen) and it friggin' *reeks*.

Oh well. Even if his next album isn't a _Born in the USA_ or a _Nebraska_, maybe it can be a _Ghost of Tom Joad_.

1. Tom Waits, _Alice_
2. Norah Jones, _Come Away With Me_
3. Tom Waits, _Blood Money_
4. Luther Wright and the Wrongs, _Rebuild the Wall_

I'll probably be getting the new Fred Eaglesmith pretty soon, and I'm guessing that the new Bruce Springsteen album is pretty good too, although many of the reviews say it frequently degenerates into cheese. But then, I'm unashamed about liking the Boss. And not just because we share a moniker.

I also bet that the Uncle Tupelo retrospective was damn good but I haven't heard it yet.

And yes, I do listen to a lot of alt-country. There's a lot to be said for songs about anger, alcoholism, and firearms.

Bruce.
