I don't know where the lead singer from "ABC" gets off, but I think that the thing that modern music really misses are songs where the lead singer seems to be speaking to the back-up singers, and actually get fed-up with them at some point.

80s pop was so trite in some places, it's just nice to see an exchange like this:
