ok
but first nice going roody thats the spirit
i will defend that statement
the generals neice was a picture made as an obvious homage to godard and to the notion of the cutout as popularized by bryon gison. however rather like the original matrix it was a panolpy of disparate images shamelessliy ripped from other movies. perhaps the intention was merely to paper over the directors utter lack of creativity with knowing postmodern winks to the films favored by maximillian wu the director. however it was astonishingly successful in so doing. just the nod to battleship potemkin when the baby carriage topples down the steps to be simultaneously crushed by a crane eaten by a pack of rabid wolves and incinerated by the lost ww2 gi with his flamethrower was worth the price of admission. plus this is the film that catapulted loretta liu to international stardom a far cry from her last film appearance in the third-rate porno epic gutterballs. great maybe not but definitely a seminal film.
angery dog dont get me started. please robb find a little taste. angry dog is nothing more than a tired remake of my dinner with andre with bad cgi enhanced canine lips. ok ok so maybe theres a little more to it like the tarantinoesque slowmotion gunbattle to the strains of nick caves crow jane....although come to think of it thats really more the coen brothers and millers crossing than it is our boy quentin but anyway. yes angry dog has the performance of randy larue as sonny the nose maladetti and it does have the spectacular breasts of anna schmerzenhergel oh i forgot she anglicized her name to sandwich what a phony. like her admittedly spectacular breasts.
anyway although angry dog may appeal to the violent hyperactive 8 year old inside each of us ultimately it is an entirely forgettable film. the same thankfully cannot be said of the generals neice.
