Okay, I guess we're all done with Palo Alto sauce, so let's move on!
I am fascinated by widely available hot sauces. Mainly because unlike most mass-produced products, pretty much any sauce you buy, no matter how common on shelves, is pretty damn good.
Enter: VALENTINA Mexican hot sauce. I'd avoided it for years just based on how every damn Mexican hole in the wall has a big crusty, browning, oxidized bottle of it on the table and it made me wanna barf.
Finally, though, I had no choice, and had to pour some on an omelet.
Holy crap! Tapatio? Cholula? TAKE A SEAT, PALS. Valentina is the King!
Here's reasons I like it:
1. It's not all chile, like Tapatio, and it's not all fruity aroma, like Cholula. It's what I would call a perfect mix.
2. The bottle and cap are presented in a way which commands you, and makes it easy for you, to just slather over shit. This is when it truly shines. When it's poured generously. The pour spout lets out more than a drop at a time, but doesn't force you to carefully measure your dispension. Dispensal. What word is that.
3. Like the other Mexican sauces, goes with everything, but goes with them just that much better.
4. Comes in an "extra hot" variety, which is a must, since like other Mex sauces, the normal variety is very tame.
5. Like a nickel for a gallon bottle.
Let us all enjoy the wonder...
