CO, you seem like a nice guy, but the quickness and thoroughness with which you derailed this thread made even TDR blush.

This is NOT about CORN QUALITY in DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.

This is NOT about moving past other people in the aisles.

This is about FAT OLD CUNTS PEELING BACK THE CORN HUSKS FOR THREE HOURS, a completely USELESS practice which is, right now, right this SECOND, happening in grocery stores ACROSS THE LAND!!!

That's what this is about.

By the way, we got six ears, cooked 'em right up for dinner, and they were delicious. Don't be Corn Snob Guy and come tell me that, bleah, compared to IOWA corn, this was SHIT.

It tasted delicious.

And I didn't even have to PEEL BACK THE FUCKING HUSKS YOU OCTOGENARIAN ANUS COWS.

(And, six for a buck!)

Pinback, have you noticed how nobody acknowledges you when you say "excuse me" at the grocery store here? It's freakin weird. I was going to put this in terrible people thread but since you brought up the fuckers at the grocery stores: In NY state, if you have to step past in front of someone staring indecisively across the aisle, you say "excuse me" and the person nods or in some other way acknowledges the act of courtesy. In Seattle, at least, I almost always am greeted by blank stares or worse glares. It's to the point that I now almost always just walk right past them, uncaring that for a moment I have blocked their view. Fuck em.

Liar

I don't know why they even bother. There is no sweet corn in western washington that is "fine" or even adequate. Sweet corn starts to lose it's crispy sweetness as soon as it's picked, getting worse over the course of a few days to a week. Not to be a corn snob or anything but in both South Carolina and upstate NY I used to go to corn stands that measured freshness by what time that day it was picked. In seattle and even worse where Pinback lives there are no real corn farms within more than four to six hours drive. There is a "boutique farm" area called Auburn south of Seattle that I was hoping would offer fresher corn. I bought some corn off some guy with a load of ears in the back of his truck on the side of the road. I asked him what time the corn was picked and he said, "I think a few days ago". They just don't get corn here.

In almost five years, the best tasting sweet corn I've found here is Sam's club frozen corn.

Just a quick note to you old nasty bitches at the grocery store standing there pulling back the husks on every single ear of corn before committing to putting them in their goddamn carts:

THE CORN IS FINE. PUT IT IN YOUR FUCKING BASKET YOU FAT OLD CUNTS.
