Especially in the early days before each of the members had developed their personae, MCA was definitely the stand out. To me, King Adrock was always "the goof," and Mike D was always "the guy trying too hard to be cool." MCA didn't have to try though -- he was legitimately cool.
On Licensed to Ill it's tough to tell who wrote what since they were often trading off lines. In later albums when they started doing entire verses (or whatever you call it in rap) by themselves, that's when MCA (and Adrock) really began to shine. I always felt like Mike D was the coat rack upon which the other two hung their talent.
