I've started walking two miles a night, so I've been downloading lots of albums lately and listening to them once. Here's this week's fodder so far.
Eminem - Relapse
At 35 years old I am probably outside of Eminem's demographic, so sitting around and complaining that I don't "get" a lot of what he says is a moot point. To be honest, I just snagged this one to hear Dr. Dre's production, and he does not disappoint. The rest though ... let's just say by the time I got to the part where Eminem was talking about killing Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, hooking back up with Mariah Carey and making fun of Christopher Reeves (RIP), I was rolling my eyes so hard I almost tripped on my feet. Eminem hates everybody (starting with his mother) and wants you to hate him, end of story. If I were an 18 year old who loved to take my shirt off and fight I'm sure I'd be spinning this disc every day.
Lonely Island - Incredibad
Most people know Andy Samberg from his digital shorts on Saturday Night Live. His popularity started with Lazy Sunday (We love the Chronic-what?-cles of Narnia!), and he's had multiple home runs with songs like Dick in a Box and, most recently, I'm on a Boat. All of those songs and 16 more appear on Samberg's debut comedy/rap CD, "Incredibad" (named after an encounter Samberg and his two buddies had while impregnanting an alien, all at the same time, because they ... eh, you'll just have to listen to it.) I laughed several times aloud while walking last night.
If you think this video is funny then you should check it out. If you don't think this video is funny then don't bother with the album. NSFW (language).

Godsmack - Godsmack
I'm going through one of my "music phases" right now and this album fascinates me solely for the fact that it was recorded in an abandoned building over three days for $2,600, and went platinum. I've been listening to it not so much for the music (which is okay, but not earth-shattering), but more as a production/mixing/mastering road map.
