I've always thought that baseball had too many stats. I mean, the few times I've actually held a baseball card in my hand and tried to decipher the back would always leave me slightly puzzled and depressed that I could never get THAT into the game. Now people ban you from their blogs if you actually mention these numbers in a conversation.

Obviously, the owner of the blog is too tightly wrapped. Don't go back there

KGJ was my childhood hero. He left the Mariners 10 years ago like an ahole. Yesterday at age 39 he has come back and I am cool with it. After watching Bill Bavasi plug the DH role with Jose Vidro the last couple years I welcome our new GMs signing of George Kenneth Griffey Jr.

The BLOGS of course are killing it.
I have become less of a fan of my teams over the last couple years. At first the internet was great I could finnaly get all of the Seattle sports info I never could from the beyond terrible Rochester paper. The internet eventualy lead me to the most widely read Mariners blog the USS Mariner. And thats when I became less of a fan. I am all for Sabermetrics, new defensive stats and baseball discussion but these fags make me embarrassed to be a fan of sports in general.

I understand you need rules to run a succesful blog, you dont want going things getting out of hand and want to bounce abusive posters. Instead of making a general rule base once a week the mod will boast some bloated novel about what people can and cant do, and brevity is the most lacking of his skills.
Geoff Baker is a retard who lucked into being the beat reporter for the Seattle Times. He knows nothing about baseball, is dead wrong on every prediction and generally sucks Seattle managment balls so he can keep his access. Well on the USS Mariner blog he is universely slammed for his worthless opinon on a daily basis. BUT NO LONGER

So on the USS Mariner you are banned if you slam the awful writings of Newspaper Beat writer Geoff Baker. Also the rules section of the blog reads like a thesis for a creative writing Masters. You need like 5 rules to run a website
1. No swearing
2. No trolling
3. be kind of nice
4. No advertisiments
5. I'll ban you if I dont like you

BUT on the USS Mariner you are suggested to plow through this novel before posting-

Also you MUST evaluate players in discussion without using standard stats

So saying Harvey Stinkerton is better than Ansel MgNoghuffer because his ERA is 8 runs better will get you banned. ERA is still a useful stat, unless you pitch ONLY in Coors Field or Dodger Stadium for your entire career. But to make a point on the USS Mariner you must plow through 15 websites and 90 differnet pitching metrics to simply say I think Felix Hernandez is a better pitcher than Carlos Silva.

So anyhow, these bloggers get interviewed and audiences with the Seattle FO, and I am embarrassed. I am am embarrassed that these teams think- this is the fan base. And it makes me care a lot less.
