ROUND TWO

AH: Daisuke Matsuzaka. SP
BRO: Joakim Soria, RP
ALX: J. D. Drew, RF
EVN: Bobby Abreu, RF
WIC: John Danks, SP
BER: Adrian Beltre, 3B
BRO: Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
KNG: Gavin Floyd, SP

I had the second pick (the draft does not snake). I traded it last year though for Brooklyn's third. I used it to grab Delmon Young. ESSENTIALLY, I wanted to ensure that I had Delmon Young *and* Dustin McGowan on my team, drafting last year.

That obviously worked out hilariously bad, because Joakim Soria (who Neil took) is approximately a million times more valuable than Delmon Young. Even though I think that Delmon is going to be a really good player (he is just 22 with three seasons under his belt -- twenty two!!) his comparables at 22 include Carl Yazstremski, Rocco Baldeli and Del Ennis. I would be happy with any of those guys long-term.

So we'll see. Dustin McGowan had surgery on his rotator cuff that ended his 2008 season (in real life). I did... not anticipate that! I thought he'd be safe because he already had Tommy John surgery. Ah, well.

So anyway, I learned my lesson: I'd need to totally rip a guy off to trade picks in the first four rounds in this league.

Diamond Mind Baseball, 2007 Draft

Here is a list of draft picks in the Diamond Mind baseball league I am in. I play with these guys, so I am not going to comment, but other DMB players may find it interesting.

Our rules are that:

- 8 teams. We play 84 games.
- AL only
- You can keep 20 out of 32 players.
- You need to have used them for 33% of their real life usage. So if a pitcher has faced 100 batters in the real life 2006 season, to make him a keeper for 2007, you need to have him face 33 batters in our 2006 season.

There is a maximum of 60% usage. If you go over, you lose a draft pick (happened for the team picking third this year)

You always know two seasons' worth of stats before we play. So I know that Shaun Marcum had an average 2007, a dominant 2008, and, er, in his case, I know he will miss the entire 2009 season.

I'll link to the available player lists, for hitters and pitchers, in a bit. I'll update as a round finishes. I am "RCH" for the Rochester Radiation.
