Somebody should be spending more time with SOMEONE, that's for damn sure.

Same reason why I find most filthy brutal death sucky: it ain't brutal, it's just abrasive and annoying. It's musically very boring, it's like the high school kid turning in shit smeared on cardboard and trying to call it art. They try to shock with very atonal, monotonous bear vocals and droning, whiny guitars (they are droning and whiny at the same time), and then, if you don't like it, it's because you aren't brutal enough. Shock works on the very young and very old, but underneath the posturing, it's not very good or interesting music. Style over substance, etc. etc.

And, I guess personally, I don't like low pitched music. Most prefer bass to treble, growls to screams, but I like black metal instead of death because it's tinnier and screechier. Black metal is the musical equivalent of moonshine, it scorches going down, and then you're suffused with a warm glow and a pleasant aftertaste and you want more. Death metal is like trying to make your way through a bottle of kahlua unaided. I do like some death bands, but they're the faster ones that vary the vocal pitch from time to time, like the Aborted and Benighted I sent you. Krisiun and Kataklysm, also.

I took her to see CC and they piped in vocals at one point. That's pretty lame. The only songs where I feel it is acceptable to use vocals played by a computer are "Thela Hun Ginjeet" and the Pink Floyd song "Keep Talking."
