Heh, that's true :)

Ask Robb why he stopped eating sunflower seeds!

by AArdvark » Wed Feb 28, 2007 7:03 pm

Nobody can tell the difference between cracking sunflower seeds and RobB's M keyboard.

Yeah, this is what my guy does. Again, it's not the dispensing of the product which is problematic, but the cracking sounds from his open mouth.

I have started fighting back by chewing ice cubes.

I also think it's clear that hygraed is the best new guy that's been on the forum in recent memory.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Wed Feb 28, 2007 6:40 pm

My brother used to chew in his office. Chew tobacco, I should add, as apparently Pinner thinks I am not explaining my posts very well.

I have done the sunflower seed thing at work, but I don't spit -- you can put them into a cup by having the cup's edge next to your mouth and you sort of just let them fall in. Plus, our heads are buried in our computers and none of us that work together look at each other, usually. But from what I'm hearing, it's pretty goddamn disgusting. On the other hand: maybe if these other people would start chewing sunflower seeds they'd realize that it's not a snack, it's an activity ... and join me!

I would have to kill them within 20 minutes.

I know the thread you're talking about and I'm pretty sure it was the SECOND that was highly recommended.

</aside>

If you can't pace yourself with sunflower seeds then you probably can't pace yourself anywhere else in life and are the kind of obnoxious jackass who deserves the heart attack.

It's the spitting that gets me. Whether you let them dribble out in a trail or spit them straight out. You might as well let people chew or floss in the office. Just because something is edible and purchasable does not make it proper for an office setting. I think pinner should sit down right next to this guy with a <s>watermelon and bucket of fried chicken</s> carton of poprocks and see if he gets the message.

Ha ha, what's this now? Monster Rancher sucks? I've heard nothing but good things about it. Is this the original you played? I might have to investigate this one.

by Worm » Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:49 pm

Monster Rancher. The one you recommended to me.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:09 pm

Yeah, but without the slowdown the shells give you, it's impossible to not eat so many that your heart will give out.

And what was the horrible game you were playing that you mentioned over IM?

by Worm » Tue Feb 27, 2007 4:40 pm

Pretty fucking indecent. If you're going to be eating the seeds in public spring for the shelled ones.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Feb 27, 2007 1:43 pm

I have to bow out due to the horrible thing you said about your co-worker up there.

DID YOU KNOW... there was a sunflower shortage last summer? Seems to have cleared up, though. Man, I love sunflower seeds. Used to be able to get a bag across the street from where we worked. Those were the days, even if Derek Jeter's disembodied, INTANGIBULLZ face was on the bag, whom I don't like much.

Yes. And usually talking at the same time.

It still seems like the sunflowereer is in the right here.

Wait, his mouth is open? That's disgusting. Fucking disgusting!

Hang 'em! Wish I could change my vote. One of the things you can't do in phpBB, I don't think. Man, that punBB looks better and better with each passing day.

by pinback » Mon Feb 26, 2007 6:12 pm

I got headphones. Still, it's just nauseating. Crackle crackle!

I just didn't know that not everyone was taught to chew with their mouths closed.

(He's a colored, though, so I dunno if that has something to do with it.)

by Vitriola » Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:47 pm

I guess Pinback is just fucked.

by AArdvark » Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:38 pm

It would sound like a cardinal (those red birds, don'tchaknow) eating at the next desk.

I picture a very quiet office atmosphere. The faint hum of the lights, the muted burr of a distant telephone ring. Suddenly a faint rasping and cracking noise becomes discernable, followed by the second spitting noise of someone trying not too discretely to remove a bit of sunflower shell from thier tongue.

Yick.

by Vitriola » Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:03 pm

Munching on stuff is very healthy, like if someone is trying not to eat too much, quit smoking, relax, etc. I think if they made the spitting noise, and then the cup noise, if would drive me bazoo. I would actually say something, like, use a glass cup with water, or stop audibly spitting. I don't care if the dude is pissed, I would vomit if I had to listen to someone make spit noises incessantly. Say something, even if it's in a joking manner or whathaveyou. There are ways to say uncomfortable things in a manner which does not offend.

by pinback » Mon Feb 26, 2007 4:55 pm

So, let's say that for someone else in the office, it WAS extremely annoying. Should they say something, or just sack up and deal with it?
